5.0 out of 5 starsWorth the money and the effort.

As for someone who has a natural tendency to effortlessly remember almost everything that isn't important, I found this guide extremely helpful with devising effective strategies for information retention and recollection. This book offers useful tips that help alleviate the stress I'd normally put myself through while drilling new information in my head through various methods of pictorial thought. They do involve some effort at the beginning and some consistent practice afterward, but I'm really surprised with how many lists and examples I can still effortlessly recite from this book weeks after having finished it. My only grievance is that many of these lists are broken down focus points from other highly regarded self-help authors, and at least once the author used the opportunity to make a sales pitch for one of the books he was referencing. Not a crime, but I feared that with repetition of plugging other books, it would increasingly become a marketing tool rather than a guide for self-improvement. Luckily, it was not a reccuring instance.

3.0 out of 5 starsCoffee table book

I like the simplicity and clear nature of the writing. It does a good job of approaching the audience and dispelling thoughts and behaviours which undermine learning and memory performance. This said, its taken half the book in which to trod through, and thus far, from an academic standpoint, has taught me nothing I haven't already learned. If you are a novice, I would recommend this book. If you're looking for a plethora of nuanced techniques...perhaps there are better sources.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I read this before University. Better late than never

Kevin Horsley is my biggest influence for 2017. He will teach you the best memory systems for numbers, words, languages, and life. Kevin is one of the top memory champions of the world. This simple to read, fun and short book will significantly improve your life. It's been 2 weeks so far, and my understanding in my classes this semester (Computer Science - Graphics) Is off to a strong start. I wish I read this book before I started University! I am very grateful that Kevin provides this valuable knowledge to me. For Kevin's book to work on you as it has on me, I recommend you do the following. Kevin does highlight a few requirements to practicing his techniques. For example he says that if are not concentrating (eg thinking about an argument with a friend while studying) then you can't really learn. This is obvious but some of us need to solve the concentration problem. For me that problem was solved by Forgive For Good by Dr. Fred Luskin. Once you can focus without irrelevant thoughts (especially negative ones!) the techniques Kevin teaches you will change your life. This isn't a Tony Robbins book, this book teaches you a technical skill for memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life changer

If this is the first book you have read on improving your memory then it will change your life. If not, then yes perhaps the strategies are similar to what others have written before but his credentials can not be questioned.

I can tell you this - after reading the book (and yes skipping through all the fluff at the beginning) i was able to employ all 3 of the main strategies firs time round. I had family members over who gave me a list of 21 things and within 5 minutes was able to tell them the list fwds, backwards and even when they called out random numbers from the list.

After a day or 2 of practice i can now also memorize a pack of cards within 10 mins which is an incredible feeling and a fun party trick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight forward and helpful, but you will have to practice

The concepts shared here are straight forward and will require practice. There were a few that were made sense for the type of learning and memory that I want to build on. Next steps for me is to pull together something that I want to learn or work on and commit it to memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable tool.

I was able to borrow this for no cost, as part of my Prime membership. Since it cost nothing, I clicked on it.
Wow, am I glad I did!
My memory sucks. I am a reasonably intelligent individual, but I am forgetful. Seriously, problematically forgetful.
This little book has made an honest, noticeable difference.
This is just an instruction manual for your memory. Nothing Mystic, Holistic or Spiritual.
Read the manual; Learn how to use the tool.

*After reading it on my Kindle, I also purchase a hard copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book is motivating and the memory techniques works!

The book will not only teach you techniques about how to memorize quicker and effectively but it will also teach you how the mind works and how attitude towards achieving your goal (which is to have a superb memory) is very important. It talks about how important self-discipline is and a change of your limiting beliefs, ect. It’s a great book, highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Small error on the author's part.

I just wanted to point out a small error that the author made.
Pg. 50 under the heading some French words. The french word for chair is chaise not chez. Chez is at for example: at your place = chez vous. This is not a big deal to me. I am loving the book so far. I will give a more detailed review when I have finished studying it.

The book is informative on the subject but I returned it due to the ridiculous amount of plugs for other books and also religion.
