I bought this as my in case of emergency, rainy day, what do we do?! activity book. It arrived damaged in one of those bubble mailers so I requested a return immediately, but I did flip through it and I was unimpressed.

Obviously I'm on Instagram, and the ideas are endless, even if wildly impractical at times. I was just so underwhelmed by this that I didn't re-order it. Maybe 10 or 20 years ago this would make more sense, but I don't think any of the ideas are creative enough, or take that much time.

I would not recommend buying this. There are hardly any unique ideas in here at all. Like one activity says to go outside and play with the leaves. It is accurate Montessori but didn’t really have a whole lot to it. Most of it was things people are already doing with their kids.

Difficult to use without lots of supplies

I recieved this book and was disappointed with how few activities I could do without lots of supplies. One activity is to have your toddler push a gallon jug around on a small cart with wheels... Is a small cart with wheels a thing lots of people have? Another is to use a "toddler sized wheelbarrow" as part of an activity?? Or a wooden triangle to climb on? It just feels like it knocks a lot of activities out of the realm of possibility unless you invest in a lot of specialized items.

I was excited about the idea of this book but when it arrived it was a compilation of mostly very basic activities I already do with my daughter like having her help stir pancake mix or other super simple things. I guess I was hoping for more creative crafts and educational suggestions than simply the daily basics I already am teaching my daughter.

Overly Simple Activities

All three of our children went to Montessori nursery school. The actives in this book are much simpler than the work and play they did.
In school there was an emphasis on playing with whatever you wanted to play with, completing your task, and then putting the items you used away and getting something else. No one led the children to do specific things.
All the activities in 5his book are initiated by adults, rather than by showing children an array of things they could do, and working with them to develop more intricate skills.
