This is a book that I've long wanted to read but never got around to it so I finally bought it. I was impressed at the depth of research and timeline detail of this whole RJR Nabisco saga and the greed involved. Too bad no one learned from it and this abhorrent greed came home to roost once again again in 2008 and will likely happen again.

I really hated this book. Really boring. Read it from reco’s on Tim Ferris podcast. Thought it would be more non-fiction docu style. Turned out to be basically a fiction type format but all the characters are the same and the action in the entire book is old men sitting around conference room tables being pissy with each other about millions of dollars. Really don’t know why this is a recommended book, if anyone enjoyed this I would love to know why?

I found it slow and tedious at first, and while it did pick up in the end it did not pick up enough to wipe out the ponderous beginning of the book. Hence, I couldn't give it better than two stars.

Great publication for a course at a university. TMI - Too much information. Some is very interesting, most has been dull and while accurate. BORING!!!
Actually did not finish it, when 1/2 way through and then had do do something important like go to work and make a living. These people did not make a living, they played the rest of us to make their MILLIONS.

Not a good book. Hundreds of pages of superfluous information about the main dealmaker's backstories adds little and is tedious to wade through as frankly they aren't very interesting people. The details of the deal make the book worth reading. If only you could buy a condensed version of the book.
