3.0 out of 5 starsOkay on average. Good at its best, and boring at its worst.

Characters were hard to distinguish, most were mediocre or unexciting. I found it extremely difficult to find out who was loyalist and who was traitor, where our characters intentions lie, or who was on which side.
Several characters are introduced fairly unceremoniously, and when they are still around some hundred pages later, its easy to forget who they are.
Two very important characters make cameo appearances but its done without any grace or spectacle that you are almost confused how lowly they are described.
A few characters conclusions were welldone, which was the high point for me. IE Zeth, and the one pilot (I cant remember his name and I just finished the book, but a "*blank* welcomes him in," was the line and it was poignant.
In short, its an okay book to get a solid understanding of Mars and the Mechanicum, but it is just okay.
