IBAR, ISOBAR, or ISOBARULTRA?

In a four outlet model Tripp Lite's website lists an IBAR4 and an ISOBAR4ULTRA. The differences are what you would expect, with the IBAR being the one which shuts down when it has been breached (what APC calls catastrophic event protection), and the ULTRA being the one which just merrily continues passing electricity, with only the lights to tell you protection status, or lack thereof, assuming your daily personal rituals involve checking the lights on your surge protectors.

So what do you get when you order an IBAR4, the object represented here? What I received was a box saying ISOBAR4, (an item not on the Tripp Lite web site, as of this writing) but containing an ISOBARULTRA. The problem is, that isn't what I wanted or ordered. Order at your own risk...

Edit - I reordered, and got the same wrong box and product. I also did a survey of various retailers' web sites and found that almost all of them list both the IBAR4 and the ISOBAR4/ISOBAR ULTRA pictures and product names within the SAME AD. In short, assuming that they are using ad formats received from Tripp Lite, Tripp Lite has comingled it's ads, products and packaging to the point where it is almost not possible to order and receive the IBAR, at least not with any confidence.

Further Edit - I also reordered from two other retailers. Same story, both times. Received the ISOBARULTRA in an ISOBAR box when I wanted the plain old IBAR.

Now, in retrospect, when I look across the ISOBAR product line I see that with the six outlet model the cheaper version is now being branded as the ISOBAR, which seems to be functionally the same as the old IBAR but with the fancy blinky lights of the ULTRA. I presume is what they are trying to achieve with the four. That at least explains the box. Whether the box contains the ULTRA when you want a non-Ultra, again, who knows? My experience says that is what you will get, meaning it is simply not possible to procure an IBAR, or even an ISOBAR. Tripp Lite's distribution seems to be a real mess at the moment.

A number of years ago at a previous residence, we had a utility transformer go "crazy" it started putting out about 170VAC on one phase of our outlets. Our Tripp Lite Isobar Surge Protectors popped, fizzled, and smelled funny, then tripped their circuit breakers. After that point, they were garbage. However, they did indeed save a couple of $4000 Mac Pro computers that experienced no damage. If you want a surge suppressor that does not use sacrificial parts you need a more expensive "series mode" surge suppressor.

I've never liked the way these units mount. If you're just going to set them on the top of your desk you need to put some rubber feet on the bottom so they're not scratching your work surface. If you want to attach them to a wall, or floor it gets even harder. I would much prefer if the mounting flanges went out away from the unit, instead of underneath it. Shockingly, they don't provide a template to locate your mounting screws. I had to make my own template with some effort.

Where I live, all utility lines are underground, but you can still have surges from lightning striking utility lines one mile away. Also, as I outlined above you can have power problems unrelated to the weather.
