Not bad for a light read

I found this book entertaining, a light teenage girl version of Jim Butchers 'Dresden Files'. I'm a sucker for fantastical creatures, which elevated my opinion of this book. If I read this book purely for the character depth, plot and writing style, it would have received a lower rating. I must be critical on the predictability of this story- I had the ending of the book pegged before I got midway through it. I also found the main character to be boring and a bit of a twit.
As far as teenage girl books go, I'd say its on par with 'Hunger games', and significantly better than 'Twilight'

I know I'm a little late to the party but I have now read the first book in the Mortal Instrument Series. As a first book there is a lot of intro to the various characters and some back story....and even a plot to carry the book. Cassandra Clare handles all this with ease. The book is very well written and full of all the action and angst you would expect from this Urban Fantasy type of story. Many people present these books as a Young Adult series but I just don't see it. This is an honest to goodness fantasy story that just happens to have young adults, and old adults, in it.
Again, it's a page turner and one of those hard to put down type of books. I am eagerly anticipating book two in the series.

I ADORE this book! Wait, I actually ADORE the ENTIRE series and the prequel that's not quite a prequel, The Infernal Devices. I received my book on time and even though I've read it before, I'm going to read it over and over again until it is literally falling apart in my hands.

Jace is perfectly imperfect. His witty humour, grace, understanding and bravery simply make my mouth water. Aaaand, that's not including his god-like beauty. Oh my god, I'm fawning over a fictional character. LOL.

The only other fictional character I do this over is Bones from Jeaniene Frost's the Night Huntress series and seeing as these books are more PG compared to Frost's VERY ADULT work, that's saying something.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who's interested in Young Adult, Romance, and/or Fantasy Fiction.

I'm most definitely buying the rest of the books when I get the chance. YOU SHOULD TOO!

I swear I think this book is amazing with all of the witty comments from Jace and Clary. It's beautiful. My friend first got me into this series and I was skeptical at first since I'm really picky with books that I actually start and finish and I was surprised how fast I read it. When I finished reading the first chapter I was hooked. I fell in love with the characters instantly. I recommend everyone read this because of how amazing the book is.

I was a little skeptical of reading this book because of some of the bad reviews I was seeing. I am so glad that I will not just follow suit and ignore a book on what some else might say. This book was so good, the twists and turns had me saying to myself "I can't believe that just happened"! I could hardly put this book down along with the next City of Ashes book and now I can't wait for City of Glass to come out!

If you are on the fence about reading this book, I would give it a try. I think it is definitely worth the read! I am a huge fan of supernatural books and this one is one of the better novels I have read.
