Dosent work again!

Well let's see that's the 3rd one I've orderd from Dorman and just like the last two it dosent work even said tested on the box yea right opened it up and same thing full of green corrosion and looked like somone had pulled it out if the ocean I guess I'll have to find a used one that works or a difrent button or I'll have to change out the switch and wire in a difrent one Dorman mirror select switches for a 96-2004 F150 do not work don't buy from Dorman

Stop working after a month or so

This switch works properly but rattles from side to side in my 2003 F-250. It is physically narrower than the original where it fits through the panel. I had to add some thin tape to keep it from rattling.

The switch was molded that way, so the physical size difference may be a matter of an inaccurate compatibility chart.

Electrically, the connector fits well and the switch itself performs well.

Switch work but mounting tabs break easily

The switch appears to be well made and worked great at controlling the mirrors on my 2003 Ford Excursion. Unfortunately, it has one unforgivable flaw- the plastic is brittle and the locking tabs broke off.

The day after I installed this switch I noticed that the front edge of the switch face was raised up slightly from the door panel. I pushed it down and it didn't stay. So I pulled the switch panel back off the door to get a better look at the underside of this switch body, thinking that the locking tab just wasn't quite seating against the edge of the hole in which it mounts. Unfortunately, what I found was that the locking tab had broken off. Actually, both the front and side locking tabs broke off.

I thought about some hot glue or something to hold the switch down but really didn't want it to be jury-rigged and wasn't even sure how long hot glue would hold. So I decided to see if I could take my old OEM Ford switch apart to see if there was any possibility of fixing the problem in my old switch or maybe just switching out the part of the housing that has the mounting tabs.

I was able to pry the plastic of the old switch enough to separate the pieces without cracking anything on the old switch housing. When I tried the same with this Dorman switch I was unable to get it apart without further cracking the housing. But since it was the guts of the new switch that i wanted to keep anyway, this wan't a big deal. It does, however, confirm how much more brittle this plastic is compared to the OEM switch.
In the end, I did successfully combine the internals of this switch with the original Ford housing to make a working switch that I was able to reinstall into the mounting hole without breaking off any of the lock tabs.
