Ordered the Swagman Pin Lock from the warehouse (open package) for what I thought was a decent price. Easily locks with no problem Come to find out, the threads on the pin were damaged and will need some work before it can be used. Pin will not screw into the receiver. Just my luck!

I've ordered this lock from two different retailers. Each one has sent me a different lock than pictured. The bolt was the same but the lock is has the key insert on the end. I find this lock more difficult to lock and unlock than the one I had prior which is also the one pictured. I've had to return the lock each time only to find out they no longer have the lock type they are advertising. Don't know why they don't change the picture.

Something to note about about the threaded hitch pin not fitting. I struggled with the same issue and found that i had to have everything lined up perfectly for the threads to catch. That is, until I found that if I inserted the bolt from the left-hand side it screwed in easily every time. So I suggest that you try inserting the bolt from the other direction if you are having difficulties.

The swagman does a great job anti-wobble does a great job locking in the bike rack. That said, I didn't give it 5 stars because the bolt is way too long. It takes a while to thread and sticks out much too far from the hitch. It would have been better to have a system where you do a quarter turn by hand and it locks in place. Other than that it does a great job securing your bike rack. I've driven over minor bumbs on the road and I noticed there was little shake, Pretty solid overall.

I bought this for use on my new Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack,but although the lock is well made and solid,it won't keep anyone from stealing 90% of the rack,because there is an easily removable (no tools) pin that allows you to detach the main rack from the support that goes into the hitch receiver.Also,you can remove various parts of the hitch (wheel hoops and ratchets) with no tools,and other parts with a wrench.So save yourself $38 (lock,tax,shipping) and just remove the rack from your vehicle and stow it inside the trunk/hatch/cab,because it folds up easily,and is quite easy and fast to do.

It is the only one you can buy for the swagman's because they use a wierd 1/2" versus 5/8". The problem is that you have to buy washers or nuts or something to take up the EXTRA 2" OF LENGTH ON THIS THING. LOL. I mean, why waste the steal? Why make this things larger than the receivers they are designed for???

Lock washer doesn't

Pin works as advertised, however, even with a lock washer (provided), it became loose on my return trip and bike rack wobbled noticeably. The trip was 2/3 freeway , 1/3 pave roads so that wasn't an issue. I will check tightness from now on periodically during trip (this was 30 miles, one way). Good to have piece of mind about whole rack of bikes being stolen, however this wouldn't stop a determined thief with wrenches.
