Amazon.ca:Customer reviews: Dorman 75473 Door Component

This item is of good quality. However it is not a part that will fit my 2003 Malibu like Amazon states. Now this is not Amazon's fault. The part even states it fits on the Dorman website. I got documentation from the Chevy Dealer using my Vin that shows my vehicle actually has a different part on the left and right doors. The cutouts in the metal of the pictured part does not match the factory part. The attached pictures show the difference. Blue one is factory part. Now Dorman does not have a replacement part for this and the factory part is discontinued. I will have to vet one from a salavage yard or maybe a locksmith. The factory part is $15 if can be found.

Until then I fixed with zip ties. It took 2. For anyone in this situtation I have attached also a picture of the way I used the zip ties.

Evidently Ford used more than one type of door locks on the 1994 Ford rangers. If your lock looks like mine (see pix) these will not fit. Theses Dorman clips will only fit the Rangers with the lock cylinder with the SCREW at the back to hold on the arm/clip. If your clips snaps on to the back of the lock, Dorman does not make a replacement arm for that style of lock. However a company called Auveco does. Part no. 17119 should work on the other style of lock cylinder.

thank you very much. I bought this explorer with a door lock that didn't work, but didn't think anything of it til the battery went down.
1st time I shorted the starter to open it electrically, battery was alive but just barely.
2nd time battery was so far gone it showed as dead so I used aaa.
now I can unlock it whether it has a battery or not.
linkage was there just not connected.
note to all, there are 2 kinds of locks for '04 explorer ending and beginning in 02/04.
one is half moon and the other is butterfly.
best to get 1 of each.
at least the e-clips are the same.

Works for an Isuzu Rodeo!

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo and the door would not open from the inside. I took the door panel off to check the lock rod and everything seemed to be fine, until I saw a small clip that held the roof in place was broken. That clip held the rod in place and provided enough tension to pull the door latch open. Since my Rodeo is 20 years old, no place makes the clip that broke. I found this pack for $5 and thought I'd give it a shot. That clip included fits into the hole fine and holds the rod in place. It is a little loose and may eventually fail, but I don't expect to have this vehicle long enough to worry about it again.

The yellow part Fit perfect for on my tailgate latch fix on my 2001 ford ranger 3.0l xlt. Get two kits and replace both of them while you're in there, literally 10 min fix. Put a little grease on the mechanism also for smooth operation and your good to go.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that you could actually buy these door latch componets separately. Ford has made such an effort to cut your throat when trying to fix their disastrous door latch assemblies by charging $150+ per assembly, totaling EIGHT in a four-door truck. That's $1200 just in door latches! With a little time and effort, you can just about replace all the doors for that much money.
