How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Useful!

'Like a family office conference in a book! The interviews were extremely useful to me, since like many other family office professionals, I focus more on my day-to-day job and the experts I deal with rather than networking with others who do what I do. I've learned here that although some family offices have more extensive structures, practices, and information technology in place, there's an extremely wide variety, and many like mine have their own more simple or organically-grown solutions. This helps me understand not only where I am today, but also where I might like to go tomorrow. Not only were the industry overviews useful, but I also enjoyed the variety of interviews about choice of investment strategy and classes (even including indexing!), since that's a big part of what I do. The overview of the family office industry, operating models, structures, processes, expert recommendations, global trends and differences -- all were well-presented and extremely useful.

Well done!

1.0 out of 5 stars Essentially not much more than interviews

Essentially not much more than interviews. Very disappointing. Maybe, this is what others are looking for, but for me the content does not at all what I expected after having read the description

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide to family issues

Very useful not only for confirming our own research and life experiences, but understanding client concerns and family concerns about money, how we all deal with the presence or absence of same, and how to perhaps develop our own ideas about how to advise clients, friends and family.

Decent book with good info. However, there are some better ones out there. But it's good to have as part of your resources if interested in this subject.

The problem with advisors is, they have their own interest and is not always the same interest of the family, this is a great approach to how the family offices works

4.0 out of 5 stars a true insiders view

buy and read this book to reinforce your gut feeling that FO's and MFO's are wealth preservation/creation/education vehicles, ready to traverse through the landscape of financial services. While many references are made to a specific companies' website, they are not invasive...the authors aim is to further educate and assist. I very much enjoyed the ability to read the many 1 on1 interviews and will probably refer back for some further video and audio data mining. Enjoy!
