4.0 out of 5 starsGood enough for most situations but not really "high-security"
Reviewed in Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ on August 31, 2016
I used this with the SportRack Crest 2 Bike Platform Hitch Rack on a 1 1/4-in receiver and it works great.

Pros:
1) Anti-rattle bolt works well to reduce rattling of the bike rack.
2) Easy to use. I can install my bike rack with this hitch pin in under 5 minutes. Lock just pushes onto the bolt without needing to insert or twist the key.
3) Detent on bolt also works with some clips if there are times you don't want to use the actual lock and want to use a clip instead.

Con:
1) Bolt extends beyond hitch a bit depending on the size of your receiver. A determined thief with a bolt cutter can cut it with some effort.
2) Lock cylinder itself is easy to defeat. I am a novice lock picking enthusiast and can pick the lock in under 10 seconds. The push-on design also makes it technically shimmable.
3) The biggest con is that the keys are the same for all the locks of the same model. I bought 2 locks, one for me and one for a gift and the keys are interchangable.

Although the list on cons might sound bad, you gotta realize that all locks have security flaws. If a thief is determined enough to steal your bike rack, he or she will find a way. Your average unequipped hoodlum most likely won't be carrying a wrench, bolt cutter, lock picks, same key. Overall, I think this is secure enough if you need to keep your rack and bikes unattended for short periods but I would recommend adding a strong cable lock to lock your bikes, rack and hitch all together if you plan on leaving them unattended for longer periods in a sketchy area.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tight fit on an Acura MDX
Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on September 15, 2018

It fits - just. I'm using this lock on a factory 2014 Acura MDX hitch. Lock really doesn't fit except at an odd angle pointing towards the ground. It also fits at an upward angle but you can't put the key into the lock. I tried to bend one of the keys a bit to miss the vehicle bumper and the key just broke. No worries, I was still able to use the remaining key stub and a pair of needle nose pliers to unlock it from the car. Next time I'll use the downward position option so I can use the remaining key until it wears out. The next time I buy a lock it will be a cylinder lock which doesn't occupy as much space. Mostly a situation with my car, not the lock. By the way I'm using this lock with the OEM Acura MDX (2014) hitch and a Curt 18085 rack.

4.0 out of 5 stars I didn't hear a click of the lock like I heard prior to installing it

Once the lock was installed, I didn't hear a click of the lock like I heard prior to installing it. I had to rotate the lock about 90 degrees for the lock to engage. After that, it was secured. I guess if you left the washer or crush washer, the lock would have worked normally, but I chose to keep them both on. The lock cover does not stay in place like other people had mentioned. I placed some electrical tape over the cover to keep dirt out of the key hole.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works with CURT Bike rack
Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on April 4, 2016

I bought this lock for my CURT 18065 Premium Dual-Arm 5-Bike Rack after reading an online post that the threaded bolt would fit my bike rack. The lock fits the rack and works as described. The first time I used it the locking mechanism spun on the bolt which I was concerned about, however, it didn't impact the effectiveness of the product. I am happy to have found this lock for my bike rack and glad it works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hitch Pin Bolt Too Short for 2" Receiver
Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on May 19, 2014
Verified Purchase
These Hitch Pin Bolts aren't sold for specific receiver sizes. One size supposedly fits all. My Subaru Forester came with a 2" receiver (why anyone put a 2" receiver on a 4 cylinder car is beyond me...). Using the washer and lock washer in a normal installation doesn't leave enough of the pin sticking out the side for the the locking mechanism to grab onto. It's a near thing... So, I left the washer off and that solved the problem. Making the bolt a little longer would help others... Otherwise, a great product..!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works with the CURT 18086 Hitch mount bike rack. Lock cover doesn't stay closed though.
Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on May 26, 2016

Purchased this to secure the  CURT 18086 Hitch-Mounted Tray-Style Bike Rack . Works with no problems. The lock cover is the only issue I have which it just slides open all the time, there's not enough friction to keep it closed. I'm anticipating that this will become an issue over time having the lock pins exposed to the elements.
