This was written in 2013 and follows a formula typical to "fun facts" for children: each page has a stock photo and a paragraph from Wikipedia about an animal, in this case "ugly" animals. In addition to providing a photo, the author also provided a google search results link that shows more photos of these creatures. Here some of the examples of the ugly animals: star-nosed mole, hercules beetle, frilled shart, warthog, anglerfish, wrickled-faced bat.

The book is not original or creative, but it is a fun topic and our little readers love the "ugly" animals.

The younger kids(3-5) will love it for the photos, and the older kids(and adults actually) will gain lots of interesting facts about some unusual looking critters. Its written in an easy to understand fashion and each animal's section provides a link you can go to for more information. Definitely worth the money, this book will be enjoyed by the entire family.

What a selection of the terrible this is. There are some truly awful critters in hear and the author dug some up that were worse than I had considered possible.

A couple of weaker ones in there to make the numbers but overall this is an ugly bunch.

An excellent book showing the diversity of nature goes all the way from beauty to ugly.
