To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This was written in 2013 and follows a formula typical to "fun facts" for children: each page has a stock photo and a paragraph from Wikipedia about an animal, in this case "ugly" animals. In addition to providing a photo, the author also provided a google search results link that shows more photos of these creatures. Here some of the examples of the ugly animals: star-nosed mole, hercules beetle, frilled shart, warthog, anglerfish, wrickled-faced bat.
The book is not original or creative, but it is a fun topic and our little readers love the "ugly" animals.
This is a good book for a variety of ages. The younger kids(3-5) will love it for the photos, and the older kids(and adults actually) will gain lots of interesting facts about some unusual looking critters. Its written in an easy to understand fashion and each animal's section provides a link you can go to for more information. Definitely worth the money, this book will be enjoyed by the entire family.
I bought this book on my kindle so that my granddaughter would have something I felt safer looking at while we were out and about doing errands. It has been an excellent source of entertainment for us both! When I babysit her now, we both know we're gonna learn something about yet another ugly animal! This was definitely a good investment
