4.0 out of 5 stars Another great LINE OF DUTY installment
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on June 11, 2013
OFFICER OFF LIMITS is the third storyline in Tessa Bailey's contemporary romance LINE OF DUTY series. Each novel (so far) is a stand-alone so there is no worry about cohesion and connection. This is Story and Daniel's tale.

Story and Daniel's meeting is both accidental and fate. From opposite ends of the country, the couple will be pulled into a sensual vortex of want and need from their first meeting. Story, needing time to adjust to her fiance's final words, heads to New York to visit her ailing father. Never expecting to meet someone so soon, Story is sexually aware of her attraction and desire for her father's protégé and fellow hostage negotiator Daniel Chase.

The attraction between Story and Daniel is instant. From the first time they lay eyes on each other to their first erotic and spontaneous encounter, the couple is lost in a world of sexual heat, emotional turmoil and sensual need. And keeping their relationship a secret from Story's father is constantly on their mind. The sex is hot and graphic with little room for interpretation. But I am happy to report that although the visual is colorful, Tessa has the ability to write an erotic love scene without the use of certain four letter words.

There is some back story to Daniel's life that is slowly revealed over the course of the book. We learn that although Story's life was never perfect being raised by a single parent, Daniel's early life was much more traumatic and dangerous making him the man and officer he is today.

OFFICER OFF LIMITS is another interesting and fascinating storyline with a little humor and plenty of steam in the bedroom-or stairwell-or backseat-or--well, you get the picture. There are a few moments of suspense as a small secondary story builds throughout the novel and comes to fruition in the final pages of the book, but overall it is a story about two people mutually attracted to one another, who give it their all knowing that at anytime it could all end with a phone call or the discovery of their ill-timed relationship. If you love a contemporary romance storyline where the sex scenes are passionate and hawt; the relationship is adult without the angst of perceived betrayal; and the ability of the author to pull you in until you become one with the characters then OFFICER OFF LIMITS is right for you.

This is an entertaining read with likeable characters . I definitely enjoyed it the most in this particular series. A much more enjoyable narrative story than the others. I liked Daniel and Storey and wanted them to set fire to the sheets and workout.

I love the whole series but this one is the best. I dislike the name Story but you can't deny Daniel is a great mix of tough and dreamy.

This was so much fun to read. I loved how Story found herself and grew to be the person she could become and how she helped Daniel become whole and believe in himself. A stubborn womanizing cop and young kindergarten teacher don’t usually mix but here they complimented each other perfectly

This was a really good story. I really liked both Story and Daniel and greatly enjoyed seeing them get together. I couldn't help rooting for them from the start. Like the previous 2, this one seems to be off in pg count. Goodreads has it listed at 250 pgs but Amazon lists it as 186 pgs and based on my reading time I think Amazon is the correct page count.

Story is a good woman, a kindergarten teacher in San Diego. She's engaged to a doctor but as the story begins, her fiancee is breaking up with her 2 weeks before their wedding. Story's actually shocked at just how little she feels about his betrayal and realizes that she changed a lot about herself to be more acceptable to him and the people he associated with. It seems like him breaking things off was actually the best thing for Story but she realizes she'll need some time to sort through things and get her life back on track. Unfortunately, Story gets a call from a hospital in New York letting her know that her father just had a heart attack. Story's relationship with her father isn't close but she decides it's a good time to get away by going to see her father, Jack.

Daniel is a good guy but a major man-whore. He grew up as a foster kid and didn't have much of anything growing up (including love) which left him feeling empty. He tries to fill up that emptiness with sex but feels he'll never be good enough for someone to love. Daniel joined the police and became a hostage negotiator and he does a great job at it. His mentor is a man named Jack, someone that Daniel truly respects. When Jack has a heart attack and Daniel goes to see him in the hospital, the last thing he expects is to meet the woman of his dreams.

When Daniel and Story first meet, it's by the snack machine in the hospital. Story just witnessed Daniel getting the phone # of a nurse so she's clued in to the fact that he's a man-whore. There is a light flirtation over snack food choices but Daniel doesn't get very far before they go their separate ways. He certainly wasn't prepared to watch her walk in to a room and realize it's Jack's room and that she's his daughter. When Daniel follows Story in to Jack's room and Jack gets a load of how Daniel reacts to her, Jack gets Daniel alone and warns him off of Story. Daniel tries to listen but it's hard when the attraction between them is so evident. Regardless of his good intentions, Daniel and Story do end up encountering each other a number of times and each time it's harder to stay away.

The connection between them is white hot and it confuses and astounds both of them. Daniel wants more with Story than any other woman he's ever met and looses interest in all other woman. The last thing he wants is to just be a temporary fling while she's in town to see her dad but he doesn't know how to ask for more. Story isn't sure what to think...she feels more with Daniel than she ever did with her ex so she's sure the break up was for the best. But Story has a hard time reconciling the short amount of time she's known Daniel compared to her feelings for him. She worries it's just rebound emotions but knows deep down it's not. Daniel makes his feelings known to Story and tries to get her to see more for them, asking her to think about staying in New York longer so they can explore things. There ends up being some drama when Story's ex shows up to cause trouble with an extremely stupid excuse for his breaking up with her. It does cause some issues which leads to Story being in the wrong place at the wrong time and she ends up in a dangerous situation. Things are tense but work out in the end. After all is settled, Story and Daniel admit their feelings for each other and start on their HEA.

This was a really enjoyable story. I really liked both Story and Daniel and got pulled in to their story, rooting for them from the beginning. Daniel ended up being a lot better guy than I thought he would be (from his intro in book #2) and I'm glad he and Story got their HEA. I'm looking forward to the next book which is about Hayden and Brent. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up! :D

4.0 out of 5 stars Review for Officer Off Limits by Tessa Bailey

Officer Off Limits by Tessa Bailey
Book Three of the Line of Duty series
Publisher: Brazen
Publication Date: June 10, 2013
Rating: 4 stars
Source: Bought from Amazon

***Warning: this is an adult book, and for the eyes of mature readers***

Summary (from Goodreads):

His need to possess her is non-negotiable.

Story Brooks' fiancé just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day. As if that isn't bad enough, her semi-estranged father, an infamous NYPD hostage negotiator, has suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to examine her lack of emotion over the broken engagement, she hops on a plane to reconnect with her father before it's too late.

Playboy hostage negotiator Daniel Chase has never, not once, been refused by a woman, so when a debate over hospital snack foods with a delectable kindergarten teacher ends in flat-out rejection, he makes it his mission to seduce her. His only obstacle? She's the daughter of his mentor who implicitly forbade Daniel from pursuing her.

Despite her father's warnings and Daniel's troubled past, Daniel and Story can't resist their intense attraction to one another. But when the reason for her fiancé's abrupt wedding cancellation comes to light, can Story and Daniel's already forbidden relationship survive?

What I Liked:

I bought four Brazen books during their Brazen Bash back in July (I know, it's been that long since I read this book!), and of the four of the books, I think this one was my favorite. Maybe. I really liked this book! It was recommended to me by Jessirae from Words, Pages, and Books, so this one was the first of the four that I bought, and read. Back in July.

I absolutely LOVE how this book stars. Story and her soon-to-be ex-fiance are in a restaurant. A seafood restaurant. Story HATES seafood. Fisher is such a jerk. He takes her to a place she won't enjoy, forces her to sit through his little I'm-breaking-off-the-engagement speech, and doesn't even let her get dessert! I love how Story handles the situation... she is hilarious!

When Story and Daniel meet at the hospital, sparks immediately fly. It's almost expected that after they formally meet each other - as the boss's daughter, and the father's co-worker - and they are alone, things happen. Steamy things happen. Both of them seem to have zero control when they're around each other.

It's funny how they go through the entire story tip-toeing around one another - especially when they're around Story's father. I love how Bailey constructs the scenes where Story and Daniel get together. It's clear to me that they are completely physically attracted to each other; at the same time, I can see how they begin to care for each other.

The end: I KNEW there was something up with Fisher, and Story's father, and EVERYTHING. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! It wasn't obvious, I'll give Bailey that, but oh my gosh! Story's father is... sneaky. And Fisher is one big JERK. Poor Daniel! Poor Story! I'm glad they got their happy ending though. I'm glad Story made it work for them.

That was something I really liked - the guy didn't drop everything for the girl. It was the other way around! Sort of. I don't want to spoil anything. There's a happy ending, just trust me.

What I Did Not Like:

This is something I'm going to complain about with all the Brazen titles, but I wish they were longer! I generally buy the longest one - the ones that are close to 200 pages or longer. But seriously! Full lengths novels would be fantastic.

Also, I was kind of annoyed with Story and her indecisiveness with Daniel. I'm glad that she made the decision that she did, in the end. But I seriously could not understand her expecting Daniel to make the decision. Poor Daniel... oh, well. Everything ended nicely!

Would I Recommend It:

Out of all the Brazen titles, I'd probably recommend this one the most! I loved it! Granted, I haven't read any of the newest titles yet. But this one was fabulous! But seriously... this is a very adult title. You are warned!

Rating:

4 stars. I need to go back and read the other two books in this series! Good thing I don't have to read each one to follow the series. That's the beautiful thing about companion novels!

Love it!!! So glad she ended up with Daniel! I was little shocked about the outcome how her & the fiancé broke up. But pleased! Can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I read out of order but I have a feeling I will love book 1 & 2.

I will say I wish the ending of this book had a epilogue. Kinda left you hanging in a way.

Tessa Bailey, let me just start this review off by saying you're a freaking goddess! Your books and alphas are so wicked hot and addicting I just want to cry when I come across the last word on the page. At this point, I am only able to process one thought,I NEED MORE Tessa Bailey!!

Holy h*** was this story pure magic, it has everything I need in a romance/erotic novel(plot, chemistry, humor, wicked hot bad boy hero, sassy and independent heroine, fun steamy scenes, and slight drama that encourages the characters to work for it). Story and Daniel's journey had all of the requirements and more. Officer Off Limits didn't hold all the familiar angsty story lines, no betrayals, no major love triangles, etc, which I think is why I adored it so much. I absolutely love when I can relax with a light fun erotic read that doesn't leave my emotions feeling as though I need a Xanax to recover.

Daniel and Story were engaging and entertaining. Our bad boy negotiator, Daniel, who is known for bringing down even the most hardened criminals has found the one chick in the world with the ability to bring him straight to his knees, and she does, hard! Story rocked as a heroine, she definitely gave our hero a run for his money. Their attraction was instant, and their chemistry scorching. I loved watching these two fight the good fight and struggle with taking what they wanted vs doing what's expected of them.

Daniel, oh my gosh, give me a second or five to fan myself while I cool down. I need to gush over him because he clinched this story for me. Tessa has written us another one of her sexy as hell panty melting alpha males, only this one has a penance for "public displays of affection!" Daniel and his naughty mouth did not fail. Troy is still my absolute fave though, however, Daniel was no slouch when it came to that delicious dirty talk.

Just a few juicy bits of what's to come when you met Daniel...

"Tell me. In your mind, what are we doing in that bed? Are we f****** nice and slow or are you making me sweat for it?"

"Do you feel that, gorgeous? I keep my c*** hot and hard for you. Only you. Any time you want it, you just crawl right onto my lap and take what you need."

"I'll tell you what. You've got one minute to prove me wrong."
His eyes narrowed. "Elaborate."
She slipped her phone out of her pocket and held it up. "I'll set the timer for one minute. You'll have sixty seconds to prove you're not just a bunch of talk."
Daniel glanced at the bed behind her. "The things I want to do to you, Story, would take a lot longer than sixty seconds. Your phone's battery would die well before I finished."
"Then show yourself the door."
"Set the damn timer. When my minute is up, you need to remember that you asked for it. Lift your skirt."

So, now that Daniel and I have your attention, because in all honesty how can you not want to run out and buy his story after those teasers, I highly suggest you buy this book...like now and find yourself a quiet private spot to settle in for a fun quick steamy read! No pun intended, but it was another home run for Tessa, she knocked this one out of the park. I promise your body will be singing after you read about our naughty negotiator! Just an fyi, I highly recommend Tessa Bailey and her naughty, dirty taking officers! If you have not read this series yet then what in the heck are you waiting for, start one clicking.

Thank you Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review Officer Off Limits in exchange for my honest opinion.
