Amazing series. This author knows how to immerse the reader in the dread and despair one would feel in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST READ SERIES!
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on September 12, 2020
This is the 5th book in the series and the hits keep coming. The group find others and they're not always good people. There are now more people at the campus but unfortunately some lives have been lost. After another terrifying zombie attack, the group work their butts off building fences and securing their home against further attacks by zombies or waste of skin survivors. What a shocking last chapter with a betrayal that tears your heart out. Now on to book 6.

5.0 out of 5 stars Arian is a Badass

This series has got it all. Hilarity, badassness(?) evil, heartbreak and love. His
journal is never boring and is very instructive should we ever have a zombie apocalypse, boy will there be a lot of work to be done! I think the author must be exactly like Adrian or he could not write and describe things and events so colorfully. I actually laugh out loud frequently. The profanity is hilarious as he documents what occurs daily and does try to explain what’s he’s feeling. Anyway Adrian is trying his best to help everyone he finds until of course some betray him because there will always be bad people . In prior books there is an element of the super natural that I just love and didn’t see coming. The stories go back and forth to the day it all started so you get to know what everyone’s story is before they meet Adrian, I found this book to be very emotional for me, can’t wait to start the next one.

Stop. Just stop what you are doing, right this second. (Well, go ahead and buy the book but after that STOP.) Go grab your favorite snacks, drinks, tissues, and find a comfy spot to read, because once you start this part of AUD you will NOT want to put it down. Be prepared for laughter, shock, tears, anger, awe, and so many other emotions as Adrian begins to see the truth of the matter regarding the situation at hand. Both Good and Evil have their say about the events that have led up to this point, as well as major ones that are yet to come. Our AUD family suffers a betrayal and a loss so gut wrenching that I physically hurt for Adrian and the rest of the gang. Wrath is one of the hardest books to read in the series, simply because of how much emotion Chris is able to convey to the reader. It will leave you aching for more, so be prepared to go through withdrawal if you don't already have book six to pick up once you finish this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Zombie Series!
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 1, 2014

This has got to be the best zombie series out there. I was reluctant at first because of the the first person style with diary entries, but now that I've read the series, I couldn't imagine it any other way. The style really captures his emotions, deepest thoughts and fears. Most series focus on the hero being this untouchable force with heavy military background. Adrian (the main character) does not come across as "un-flawed". At times his self-deprecating entries are very funny, but at the same time so human. This is a welcome from the typical hero portrayed in other books. The introduction of other characters is well done considering most of the interaction is seen through Adrian's eyes. The story line is unique and very un-predictable at times.

I feel really sorry for the next author I read, because after reading this series, the bar has been set high.

I am dying to read more!! WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK RELEASE?!? AHHH I read this one in less than 2 days :D
ANyway, Chris does an amazing job in this book! I love how he brings in the higher power good vs. evil dilemma. It makes you hold on to the hope that what these people are surviving through is all for a greater purpose and not a complete waste. Gotta admit I was starting to think "how could this possibly go anywhere or end well?" Everyone kind of wants to walk away feeling good about a book, at least I do. Reading the small flashbacks adds to the characters and how you appreciate how they have survived. I enjoyed how you get to revisit some of the other characters that have died already. Watching how Adrian is blossoming as this leader is intriguing. Great series! Keep 'em coming :)))

In addition to being awesome...
If you go on the authors website like i did and ask him a question he actually answers you. Make you feel a little more invested in the story to know the author takes reviews, comments and suggestions to heart. This entire series is easily worth the money and made me give a lot of other independent authors a try because of my experience with this series.

Although, i was just reading another book like it while i was waiting for book 6 and I kept getting frustrated when the main character wasted bullets or did other things Adrian taught me were "bad".

I think at some point Otis needs a story from his perspective, He is easily a fan favorite and everyone else gets one. I think we all want to know a little more about him.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the whole series

Chris Philbrook is an engaging writer. I enjoyed the whole series. He make Adrian both likable and vulnerable. I really enjoyed that he has the main character make intelligent decisions and act like a real survivor might act. Not just "run and gun" action with no thought or decisions around the characters actions. He has Adrian learn from each of his experiences. For example the first time Adrian is swarmed by zombies while inside a stronghold, Adrian shoots the ones by the windows, which made the bodies pile up against the windows, blocking the view. The second time he is swarmed, he starts shooting from the back of the group forward, so the bodies won't pile up. That is one of many examples of how the author makes Adrian an interesting character.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best series I've ever read...

Seriously-and I read a LOT of books. I originally read the online version and just loved it (even may have missed work once or twice due to being glued to my laptop reading, lol). I am THRILLED Chris got this out in this form for us. Now I can read it on my Kindle wherever I am, wherever I want . (And I have already reread the whole thing again several times, the story and characters are really that good!). I plan on getting the complete series as it comes out (it would have been nice, though, if each book was longer, instead of having so many). Chris is a very skilled storyteller, and everyone should check him out- his website has tons of his work. Pick up Adrian's story, trust me- you will be hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Michael Jordan of zombie books
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 4, 2014

I have read literally dozens of zombie books. Watched every movie. Some are decent and most are barely readable or just plain bad. Then I found AUD. It ruins other zombie books for me. Nothing else compares. Yeah, yeah, there are a few other good series like day by day, the remaining, and zombie fallout but even none of them come close to how good AUD is. AUD is to other zombie books what A Song of Ice and Fire is to other fantasy books are. What Michael Jordan was to other basketball players. The other zombie books I mentioned might be the Kobe or the Lebron to people and I would have to agree....but they still don't have six rings.
