I am generally a positive person and this is the first truly negative review I think I have done on amazon. My congregation has used this series for 6 or 7 bible studies and always loved them (thus we keep going for more). This Acts study was repetitive, dull, lacked theological depth or applications of interest and did not really help us spark good conversation. I love the series but recommend you wait until you have used the other ones before you turn to this one...sorry to say.
I previously perchased to book in paper form but some how misplaced it. I was due to teach a class in the morning and needed to review, so I down loaded the kindle version. The class really enjoyed the material in the book and thow the author worded his study. we had great discussions about the material and I beleive everyone in the class was pleased that we choose this book.
Acts is an intriguing story and it's easy to get caught up in the narrative and miss some of the finer points of theology. This study gets you to slow down and think about it, as well as offering some connections and perspectives that are fresh and insightful. I did this by myself on Kindle and took the time to type note responses for the questions - that helps and is an interesting reference as I read in the Scripture itself, so I recommend that.
Very quick but deep overview of Acts, if you like studying the Bible this is a great introduction to many factors of perspective and you need to slow down and think how the text relates to your personal journey
My study group is halfway through this study and absolutely love the balance of thought provoking insights and discussion leading questions. I wasn’t able to find a separate leader guide, but balance each chapter with insights from a bible commentary for enrichment.
A useful support to our leading a Bible study group on the Book of Acts. We used it in conjunction with two other similar study guides. This was not as useful as others at it really didn't include much historic or socioeconomic information and I found it a little hard to follow. Nevertheless, it was a useful study tool to support us.
We used this for a women's bible study. The questions more closely stick to the Acts scripture after the first few weeks, which makes it easier to facilitate discussion in a group with people coming from a variety of places in their faith journey. Some weeks cover a great deal of Scripture at once so the questions do not focus on some parts of the book that we wished they did. However, the theology and writing is sound and wonderfully connects to the Gospel and the ongoing work of Jesus. Overall, our group found deep richness in the study.
