5.0 out of 5 starsconfess review

Wow, i dont even know how to describe Confess to do it justice. i began this book 10 hours ago and couldn’t put it down, This book was a rollercoaster, there were so many unexpected twists; it made me sad, happy and angry, I was literally crying 10 minutes in. i really enjoyed the two characters and the way their POV was written, i felt a connection to them that I’ve never felt to characters before. I dont even know what to rate it because it exceeded any expectations i could’ve had and i feel 5/5 is too low. Overall amazing book and i strongly encourage you to read it.

2.0 out of 5 starsAlthough I generally like Colleen Hoover's writing style
Reviewed in Canada on July 9, 2015
Although I generally like Colleen Hoover's writing style, I found this book missed the mark in terms of keeping my interest. I personally found the plot dragged along and there just wasn't much of a spark between the characters. I think many of the 2 star reviews really sum up how I felt about this novel. I read about 60% before I just had to stop.

I dont normally read romances, but this author was recommended to me so I thought I'd give her a try. I knew nothing about the book except that it was a romance that was apparently a cover-to-cover read. I figured I'd give it a shot.

I was pleasantly surprised.

The writing was nothing special. There were no phrases or quotes that really stood out to me but the storytelling made me want to know what was going to happen next. The main theme of the book is about confessions, so there was always that little bit of mystery about finding out the main characters' confessions as the book progressed. I tried to predict what the "big" confession might be, and it wasn't what I expected, but it was still good. I guess I have a very dark sense of assuming, so the ending was actually kinda nice.

I picked up the book on Friday night at about 7:30pm. I finished reading it just before midnight. I'd put it down for a few minutes then pick it up again.

The two main characters, Auburn and Owen, were decent. Auburn didn't really stand out to me, as she is basically inexperienced in life. Owen had more depth to him, so I ended up liking him more because I felt like I knew the character better. The POV changes between the two characters, so the pacing was really quick for me. I'm also an artist - oil paintings - so I think I connected with Owen more for that part, too.

What I really liked, was that Owen is an artist and in the book there are full coloured pictures of his art. I ordered the book online, so I didn't realize it came with pictures. That was pretty cool and really helped the immersion.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that in my personal life I am going through a medication change for my bipolar disorder. As a result, I am extra sensitive and emotional, so I really think that this was the right book to read at the right time because I really felt for the characters and cried a bit as I read it. For that reason, and that I don't normally read romances, I might be a bit biased in my review. However, I did really enjoy the book and I'm going to be reading the rest of her books.

Plus, omg, the cover. Isn't it pretty? This is a book I'll keep on my shelf. It is a quick read that is emotional, has beautiful art, and it kept me wanting to find out what will happen next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked the romance aspects of this book. Love Colleen Hoover as an author.

I really liked this book. Once again I loved the fact that the book was a romance and not just about sex. As with all of Colleen Hoover's books that I have read it focused on the character's feelings. I loved Owen. There was a little bit of intrigue, and some secrets that I pretty much had figured out and a couple that I had not.

I don't like spoilers, but I found how Trey's character was wrapped up a let down in some ways. Trey did have "the power" to do a little bit more damage than what happened and after how long things went on I found the ending of this part kind of rushed. The same with Lydia.

I also found a few time frames a little confusing. I liked the fact that it seemed like the book had been edited properly and I was not distracted by that.

All in all though, this book entertained me for a day so thanks again to Colleen Hoover for that & I will continue to read her books!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another crazy kick ass book from Colleen

I will read everything this author writes cause of all her books she has never never let me down. I must confess I've been waiting for this book now for months and read it as soon as I could. I was a bit nervous as some of her books are ugly love but I knew whatever she wrote I would love. I almost slammed my kindle down a few times and felt a bit hopeless but I hoped maybe someday Auburn would stop losing hope and move on. I loved Owen right from the beginning, he was what she needed. This girl was what he needed also to get through his pain. I kept waiting for him to reach his point of retreat in his situation and do right by himself and Auburn. I had hoped he would find his Cinderella and they their happy ending...you'll have to read to find out.
Come on November 10th.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Confess of a new favourite!

I confess, this is quickly made its way into my favourite books for 2015 and pushed Hopeless back from #2 to #3.

I read all of Colleen's work, usually blind, I ignore reviews, synopses, everything. I read most books in this manner. I actually DO judge a book by it's cover. This one, of course doesn't disappoint.

Anyway, the story. Just wow. As usual, CoHo has delivered a story with a punch. Littered with characters that you can't help but decidedly love (or hate in some cases..), we read a tale of how a young mom can be taken advantage of in a way not usually discussed in society and it just hits almost a little too close to home for me.

First time that I have read a book by this author but I will definitely look for other books by her. I really liked this story. Auburn and Owen have a connection from the very start. They grow closer but both are hiding secrets.

It was an interesting love story about two young people. I enjoyed the writing and how things played out in the end, including their connection.
