I think this style should be limited to 2 bikes or very short trips. I used it to take 3 ladies bikes (1 road bike, 2 mountain bikes) on a 1.5-2hr trip and it dented my trunk just below the license plate. Will be looking into roof rack or hitch version instead. It was also quite difficult to fit all three bikes on the carrier. Attaching it to the trunk is quite easy.

put 2 adult bikes on it and got about 6kms down the road until both steel rods popped out of the holes, had to drive extremely slow to get to where i was going and 1 rod still popped out. had to get black tape from a store and taped it up to make it home.
they could of done a better job here designing these.
easy to install tho.
debating on returning back to Amazon for a refund.

I mounted 3 bicycles and while driving the set up pins came off and dropped all three bicycles. Luckily the six safety straps were holding, however, I was dragging the last bicycles on the road. Perhaps the weight of the three bicycles and the movement of the car was too much for the set up pins.
Definitely not meant for 3 bicycles. I will return it.

Bent my Volvo’s trunk lid

This product is well built and seems to be made of good quality parts. However, I can not recommend this product. The moment I put it on my car, I noticed it was putting a lot of strain on my trunk lid, without the bikes even being on yet.

Once I put 2 bikes on, not even all 3, there was an extreme amount of stress being put on my trunk. You can see how far it bent the body lines out of place with the bikes on the rack. It actually permanently bent the lid slightly, that I was thankfully able to bend back into shape without cracking my paint.

This is a 2007 Volvo S60 AWD. It is not a cheaply built car, and yet it did this to my poor trunk lid. Returned the same day it was delivered and my refund is being processed.

I ended up just ordering a hitch, because this car has a 3500lb towing capacit anyway, and a hitch mounted rack from this same brand. I highly recommend you consider using a hitch mounted rack and investing a bit more money, to save your car from hundred of dollar in damage..

Difficult to install

Difficult to install, would not have been able to do by myself. I have a small SUV, and there is no where to hook the bottom straps. We ended up having to attach them inside the back hatch door, instead of under the frame. This did not allow enough support, and I did not feel the bike was ver secure. Hook are metal with no padding, therefor run a huge risk of scratching your vehicle. Next time we use, I’m putting a thin piece of foam backing on the inside of the hook.
Lastly, one of our bikes is a beach cruiser and did not fit correctly. We had to use a bungee cord to secure the bike, and even that wasn’t as snug as I’d hoped for. Overall, I guess you get what you pay for.
