5.0 out of 5 starsfantastic product

First of all I am a novice. Never used epoxy before watched half dozen videos to build up my confidence. The project: I built total 18 feet of kitchen countertops out of 2 foot wide pine shelving prepared with water based pre stain conditioner for even stain then stained with water based stain. I applied one coat of epoxy following amount recommended by the company for base then a second coat within 10 hour period flood coat. Mixing was easy if you follow the instructions precisely. I followed a timer used fresh mixing containers each time. Originally I had bought 2 gallons ... one gallon of each.. then purchased another 2 gallons since I was experimenting on free planks using various colorings with the epoxy then epoxy over stains to see how each would react.
Here are a couple of suggestions. First of all the product is remarkable - well packaged - excellent quality. I had a problem applying the epoxy one evening in the garage - 'bugs' - even with garage door closed. You can only fish them out up about an hour then the epoxy will not smooth out anymore since it is curing. Work time actually is closer to about 45 minutes where you can fill in small dime sized areas. Contrary to instruction I found I could use bottom of the mixing container for touch ups within the 45 minute window. Here's the thing though I constantly scraped off my mixing stick on the rim of my container and constantly scraped the sides of the container. The epoxy itself is the sticky stuff and can stick to the mixing stick and container sides hence constant attention to those areas when mixing. Lastly now that we have used the countertops for a month or so one thing will mark the epoxy - HOT SURFACES. Eg. Tea pot filled with freshly boiled water. My wife made some jello in a glass bowl the rim of the bowl slightly dented the epoxy and stained an area. It's tough stuff though you can knock stuff on to it like pans cups metals without marking - wine, vinegar, bleach etc, no effect. it just seems to be susceptible very hot surfaces.

2.0 out of 5 starsSays its clear epoxy and its not

Ordered several gallons. Some for tables that required color some that didn't require color.
Followed directions for mixing. When mixed by hand for small projects, it leaves bubbles. When mixed by paddle it leaves bubbles. Had to redo several projects due to the all the small bubbles left.
It gives you about 30 minutes before it begins to cure so it doesn't leave you much time to try and get rid of small bubbles. I wouldn't use for clear tables or projects.

It worked quite well for me. I got containers from the dollar store to mix and measure it in . I was careful to make sure I got the correct 1 to 1 ratio.I used separate measuring cups for the resin and the hardener. I found a cheap juice pitcher worked the best for mixing it in because it is easy to pour it from. I used the stopwatch on my phone to time how long I mixed it for . I mixed it slowly and steadily for 5 minutes making sure to scrape the sides and the bottom as carefully as I could. I followed the instructions and did a first coat with a paint brush. I waited 4 hours and then did the pour . The pour coat did not turn out great in my first attempt. It was my fault though and nothing to do with the product. I ended up sanding it down and redoing it the next day .After I had finished sanding it I wiped it off thoroughly with acitone . That is an important step . Wipe it as clean as you can or there will bec cloudiness from the dust showing after applying the second coat. The second attempt turned out great compared to my first attempt. I had never used this type of product before . I am a very handy person but still found it challenging . But if I ever have to do it again it will be allot easier for me . Some tip I’d offer to their first time users .make sure you mix the correct ratio thoroughly. Make sure the temperature in your work area is warm enough. Make sure the project you are working on it as level as you can get it . Also make sure you clean your work area well before you do it so that you don’t get and dust or dirt floating around and landing on your nice finish before it cures . Mix a little more than you need to ensure you get even coverage. Tape the bottom of your edges prier to doing your pour and wait an hour after you pour and smooth your edges with your hand wearing rubber gloves . On my first attempt I used a foam brush on the edges the latex glove worked much better . And as I said before if you have to do any sanding be sure to clean your project thoroughly with acitone before doing the next pour . This is a great product I hope this review helps a few people not have to go through as much trouble as I did to achieve good results.

Great product from my limited experience with epoxy.

Very little odor and is a nice clear hard finished product.

I am using it with silicone molds, not for counter tops.
I do plan on pouring my table top for a cool custom creation.

I have had mixed results but that is 100% from user error.
Read about the epoxy you're using, watch videos and be prepared for a few mishaps along the way.
(Practice Runs)

I can't stress enough to have the room temperature at the proper Temp and I found putting the bottles in warm water before helped alot with getting rid of bubbles and it mixes together easier. (DO NOT over stir or mix aggressively BC that will add aot of bubbles trust me!)

I also found having my projects covered while curing gave me less bubbles and it cured faster.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfactory but much more prepping time for good results.

I bought this item because it was the least expensive 2 gallon resin. The resin itself (part A) was super thick (too thick actually) whereas the hardener was much smoother and easier to pour. After several attempts to make a nice project with it, I discovered I got the best results after mixing for 10 minutes, instead of the typical 3-5 and using a hair dryer on max and high for about 2 minutes before pouring into the molds as the resin and hardener didn't mix very well together because of the inconsistent consistencies of the two, and there were millions of bubbles. After using the hair dryer and mixing by hand for 10 minutes prior to pouring, the product was satisfactory. If price matters most to you, this is a satisfactory product with a lot more TLC while mixing and prepping time. I've just ordered a new 2 gallon brand that has favourable reviews. EDIT: I think I now understand why the resin itself was too thick... It was delivered on a cold November day and it sat outside for several hours before I was able to bring it into the house. My recommendation is that when being delivered, have it signed for to bring it into warmer conditions immediately.

Absolutely love this product. My very first try at epoxy and I'm hooked. The instructions scared me, not gonna lie, but if you follow them it turns out beautiful. Crystal clear! My table didn't come out perfect because the tile top was very uneven from handmade tiles. Edges are a bit wavy from the drips but that's ok. I still have to remove the drips but overall I'm definitely hooked on this product. I will definitely buy it again. Using the remaining product to make coasters in molds.

This product is just as good as the more expensive (heart) brand name (not allowed to mention here). It gives off VERY little odor...it is equally as clear and easy to use. I am happy with this product.

This is my 2nd order of this resin. It is very easy to use, 1:1 ratio resin to hardener; it is of excellent quality and has very little smell. I mix it in the house and it doesn't bother me at all. The finished product is shiny like glass and it stays very clear. I will continue buying this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much higher quality than the price would suggest!!

I have to be honest, I had doubts given the price per gallon. However, I'm actually blown away by this product. A client wants two epoxy river trays and I just poured them yesterday. Not as viscous as I thought it would be so pouring was a dream. Bubbles were easily released and I didn't have to come back to it after releasing the bubbles about three times (5 minute intervals). I poured around 2.5 inches deep with no exothermic reaction and to my surprise I was able to pour the remaining 1/4" after only 16 hours without trouble. I very much recommend this product and if I have more epoxy orders this is what I'll be using in the future, the price for the quality is honestly astounding. Very comparable to TotalBoat which is nearly double the price.

Although I found this resin quite a bit thicker to use than casting resin, it has less bubbles and cures very nicely. The working time is fairly short, so you have to plan for that...I also had a problem with how thick it poured from the jug, but after letting it soak in hot water for 15 minutes, it was much better...great product.

It gives you about 30 minutes before it begins to cure so it doesn't leave you much time to try and get rid of small bubbles. I wouldn't use for clear tables or projects.
