Thank you for the order. Pictures would have nice, but other than that, it's good.

Good reference material, or for people wanting to know more who may be exploring, this could be a good starting point to answer some basics.
Also.............
Note: NO BOOK WILL MAKE YOU A "TOP" OR "DOM" - PLEASE GET TRAINING FROM A PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED EXPERT.
Note: PLEASE KNOW IT TAKES SEVERAL *YEARS* INVESTMENT TO LEARN & PRACTICE THIS MATERIAL WITH OVERSIGHT FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO AVOID ABUSE & HARM.

Quick and simple reads
Helpful in some aspects
Don't like the recaps from previous books
Can generate some good ideas.
Good book for beginners but I would imagine if you've complete 5-6 decent scene's or spent 25+ hours in scene enactment then you won't need this.

Review, Dom’s Guide to BDSM, Vol. 3

This is a book for beginners and third in a series, which I’d recommend for a new Dominant or student Master who has no kink community or munch in their area or is in a rural setting. It would be better, of course, to have a mentor and this book/series fills in some blanks when starting out on your own.

Mathew Larocco is big on protecting his identity as a kinkster and writer, giving us not a hint or context about what country he lives in, how much time he has in the scene, what age he is and such. But his voice as a writer is consistent throughout the series and his message is: you’re a beginner, here’s what to look out for.

For those with several year’s experience in scene play or pick up play as a Dom in local dungeons and private parties, I’d skip Larocco's three booklets and recommend Master/slave Mastery by “Dr. Bob”, aka Robert J Rubel Ph.D. as he explores concepts, approaches and practices as one who presents at conferences and such. For those, however, who have just landed on which “side of the slash” they like to play on and it is the Dom side, these three books are worth the read. Larocco does gets into how to find a play partner and a couple relationship tips; he also describes what kind of play is out there. I wished he’d talked a bit more about what toys to put in your toy bag as a Dom and how to limit the number of toys used in each scene when starting out; dungeon etiquette and the like.

Best way to learn is to go to BDSM events and conferences and make friends in the scene. For those in rural settings, reading is a way to start; thus Larocco’s series is an OK investment. Plus, three little books have great covers and make a statement on your coffee table; when left out at the right time however!

2.0 out of 5 stars Best out of the 3 books, still not recommended

So, after having read all 3 books of the series, here is my conclusion of book 3.

I gave the first book 2 stars (when it deserved 1.5), the second book 2 stars (actually deserved 2) and this book - which is the best out of the three - also 2 starts (although for me it's a 2.5).

The reason why this book is better, than the other two, is that it goes deeper into the subject matter. Although I understand the "pioneer work" of Vol. 1 and 2, which - in a way - is necessary, both volumes didn't really gave me that much extra. Vol. 3 on the other hand did.

Would Vol. 1 - 3 been one book, i would have given it 3 stars. But individually they lack the context of the other two books (even though it is premissed, that you would read through the series).

So, what I found good about book 3 is the that the author went through a lot of kinky stuff, explained them in detail, gave advices, and so on. This is useful for a beginner. So this series shouldn't be scaled against books aimed for intermediate to advanced or hardcore bdsm fellas.

Compared to book 1 and 2, volume 3 is less iterative (actually, it's not really iterative at all), it has way more useful tips, more subject matter. And because of this, it's less boring.

So why only 2 stars (2.5 actually)?

- It's still too short
- On it's own (without the context of the other two books) it's - simply put - just a list of things you can do in bed.
- It lacks illustrations (yes, vol. 1 and 2 did so as well, but there I felt it less necessary).
- Most of the stuff you can look up on the internet for free, incl. illustrations
- Many tips are just too much common sense, e.g. things like "be careful and put safety first". Thanks man!

Would I recommend this (or any other book of the series)?

- for anyone who is not a newbie in the bdsm scene: definitely NO!
- for newbs who have some clue about bdsm: NOT REALLY, as I believe you can find most information for beginners easily online or possibly even better literature out there
- for newbs, who have no idea whatsoever about bdsm: YES, but only, if you buy and read all 3 volumes of the series together. Individually they aren't worth much, together they aren't that bad for someone, who hasn't heard of bdsm before and want's to be educated about the basics.

Did I regret buying these books? No, for me it had value. It's just not a great deal or something you really miss out on if you haven't read them. 3 stars from me for the series. (2 stars for the books individually).

4.0 out of 5 stars Sehr tiefgreifend

Top

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent series

Make sure you start with book one I recommend the series to anyone who’s looking for a healthy and reasonable overview and understanding about how to play in the space. I think this book does an excellent job explaining things detailing how the system works, punishments and rewards, clear system and structure, communication, negotiation and the role of psychology and the mental side of sexual expression and exploration.
