This book has been written with humour and common sense! Vegan-ish recipes often 'nearly' cross into the Vegetarian realm, but are tasty and nourishing. I have yet to try them all, but the ones we made were yummy! Obviously, Kathy Freston is an experienced Vegan-ish cook and provides great directions and comments. Good job, Ms. Freston!

Not really Vegan-ish. It is more preaching about how vegan is the only way to be. Didn't really appreciate that. Also all the recipes are vegan. I thought there would be more recipes that would help nudge you into that direction if you were thinking about becoming a vegan or flirting with it. Too much soy and wheat recipes. I like the Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook or The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook. These two books are more Vegan-ish to me.

First half of the book is all about the how's, what's and why's of going veganish. The second half of the book are recipes. The recipes seem to use a lot of tofu and "fake meat". It's an okay book for the very beginning veganish, but I was hoping for more simple whole food recipes.
