To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This was an incredible issue, like the others in the POC Destroy! series. My favourite story was The Things My Mother Gave Me. Other favourites were Black, Their Regalia, The Rock in the Water, and Red Dirt Witch (by N.K. Jemisin, whose words are as always beautiful). Older is an incredible editor; whatever stories he picks, I always enjoy.
really good stories; one especially, hit me hard...samatar's walkdog...great stuff...will look for more by her...i would have appreciated more fiction and less editorial stuff...the interviews just added pages, and not much substance...i would have liked less filler and more creative attempts...but, ok, i guess you need to make up a decent size anthology...but it was expensive for so little actual fiction...oh well...two hours of reading...gives me a taste, i want more...so it has accomplished its purpose...the illustrations were ok, and emily osborne's were outstanding...fun, powerful, interesting and skilled...good stuff!
