So my 2001 impala 3.4 suddenly had a check engine light. I went to have it read and it gave me the P0102, which meant a MAF sensor code. I tried cleaning the old one and still got the code. So I seen this one , seen that it was much cheaper but the others had success and went on a limb and bought it. I installed it, reset my code and drove it. It was fine for a couple days and then the code came back on.
So I'm thinking to myself, "great , I'm a sucker for believing an aftermarket part was going to work, I even had mechanic buddies say never to do that. So I assumed it was a loss and was going to attempt to send it back for a return. I put the old one back in and dealt with the code issue, although it was making my car act weird.
But I then watched a video of how to test a MAF and see if it was good or not so I figured what the hell and tried an experiment. I attached the plug to the old one and tested the electrical voltage at the connectors. The old one failed and didn't register. So I tried this new one and low and behold it was registering just fine. So I repeat the process again just to eliminate the fact of human error. But alas I ended up with the same exact results. I also read to drive it up to 100 miles for the car to accept the new sensor data. So I reinstalled the new one , of course 2 days later the code comes back on. But I made myself just give it a week, which I would easily drive the 100 miles.
To my surprise about 50 miles later, I turn on my car and the engine light was gone and the car was driving flawlessly. It has been a little over 3 months now and I have had no issues with it at all. So do yourself a favor if you need a MAF, this one will work just give it time for the car to let the new values lock in and you will be just fine.
I did not know that the Mass Air flow sensor was made in China. It was an after market product that didn't work. Although I bought a 2 year warranty along with the product, I still had to get the sensor removed from my vehicle and put a brand new one in again (ONE that was made in the good ole USA) that has a lifetime warranty. I contacted the warranty company that I bought with the original one to place a claim, stating that the product did not work and that I needed extra work done on my vehicle. I was asked if I had contacted the original manufacturer of the product?! I said no because I hadn't received a packing slip in the box when it came, and besides I have the 2 year warranty covering it!!!! Also, I don't speak Chinese.. when I purchased this product it should have CLEARLY STATED THAT IT WAS MADE IN CHINA, just because it's being mailed from Florida doesn't mean crap. I believe that this was a case of false advertising and that Amazon should do better at this type of stuff!!!! This has cost me over $250 for my vehicle so far, and I'm no further along than I was when I started. It's all just wasted money.. Gone with nothing to show for it besides 1 receipts for the sensors 2 for their respective warranties and 1 for a dealership who charged me $130+ tax to "try to find the problem", but stopped when the sensor didn't work. Now I have to find a different mechanic that I can trust, and that isn't as expensive.
Throws up error codes constantly. RPM's spike to 4k then drop to 300 at random. RPM's become stuck close to RED LINE and will not drop without shutting off the ignition. On Restart the vehicle may drive fine for a few miles or a few days then do it all again. Do yourself a favor and buy OEM
I installed this in April and by September it failed on my way to work, it lasted 5 months. The car acted like it had a bad fuel pump. After having it towed to the shop, they discovered that the fuel pump was fine. They ran the diagnostics because the "check engine" light was on. The error said it was a mass air flow problem. I told them it was just replaced in April. They unplugged the sensor and the car ran fine!! The sensor has been replaced, the car runs great and the "check engine" light is out!!
My second Mostplus MAF from amazon installed late Feb 2020 lasts 3 months, after first one new from ebay lasts 9 months. Long term fuel trim is 12 and 13 and car quits right after start. Miss the amazon return window. How to contact seller (email?) for warranty replacement preferable as need part to fix car (which seems is 3yrs) or refund if any? Expect car engine parts last longer than oil change. Thanks.
Had a P0101 Mass Air Flow Sensor code on my 2005 Astro Van. I cleaned the old sensor but it was still triggering the code periodically. I was weary about the quality of this sensor but I have put 1k miles on the van since replacement and have had no issues. Fingers crossed! Best of all, it got rid of my code!
