5.0 out of 5 starsThis book is a must have!
Reviewed in Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ on October 29, 2020
This book is amazing in so many ways!! It approaches goal setting, reaching, and, more importantly, how to proceed once you reached your goal! I had listened to the audiobook earlier this year and it was so good that I decided to borrow the physical book from the library, but then I realized that this book is a must have, so I purchased my own. There's so much to come back to! Definitely recommend it!

3.0 out of 5 starsGood for Ready, Aim, Aim, Aim types
Reviewed in Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ on November 23, 2017
While I felt the book was a bit repetitive, it's a good book for the Ready, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim...type.

Acuff addresses perfectionism and the lies it tells us as we try to do our work. This is a book for a Chronic Starter. Someone that has lots of projects laying around and almost none out in the world for others to see.

If you're more a Ready, Fire, Aim type, then look at Perennial Seller by Ryan Holiday.

3.0 out of 5 stars Forcing myself to finish this book

I saw this author on a Christian tv show interview. Sounded like he might have some good ideas. He talked very fast, non stop. Well, this book, needs to finish. All he talks about is himself. He has very few examples of anyone else about anything. I think he tries to be humorous, which he is not. He just sounds like he's trying too hard. But since I paid a ridiculous price for this book, I'm going to "finish" it. I wouldn't recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book - poor quality

I bought it as a gift for my mother. My comments are mostly about the quality.
It's printed on a cheap yellowish paper. I have a cheaper books using better paper.
I paid more to have a hardcover version. It's hardcover but the visual cover is just a printed paper.

With regard to the content. I liekd it but probably it can be reduced to 100 pages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay read

The book can be read easily and quickly but I find there is not a lot of actual content. The author has a thesis that perfectionism is what keeps us from finishing and mostly describes why. But each explanation is surounded by a lot of personal stories/movie references/jokes which do not add much value. As often when reading book of this kind the author talk a lot about his own struggling in writing a book/being successful, which makes it less relatable. Finishing a book is a difficult thing but has a clear and distinctive finish contrary to a lot of other goals. Some good advices at the start of the book though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, poor print quality

Really good book if you are one of those who is good at starting but never finishes a goal. Jon sets out clear guidelines on how to accomplish something that is important to you. The only problem I had with this book is poor printing quality. Lot of places the letters appear double. Initially I thought I had double vision but checked it twice and it is the poor print quality. One for the publishers I guess

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but there are better on the subject

This is a good addition to the work Acuff has done in books like Quitter and Start. If these books resonate with you, then reading Finish will be time well spent. Ultimately, the subject (called resistance instead of perfection) has been explored more eloquently by Steven Pressfield in his books Do The Work and The War of Art.

Sadly, I have none of those. I love the author and there were a few things I mined out for me at this stage, but most of the book is for finishers. I am not one of those.

Pick up the book and get your goals done. If you don't have any like I do, then you might want to move on by.

Great read. Very engaging and a great break down to finishing goals you start. Breaks siren every aspect of a goal abd makes accomplishing it manageable.
