5.0 out of 5 starsWorks great and looks good (for a cable spider)
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on February 3, 2023
This is an attractively designed switch that seems to work great for mouse and keyboard. I haven't used it with any other peripherals, so YMMV with things like printers.

I've experienced no issues with interference while using a Rapoo 2.4 GHz wireless mouse, and system switching seems to work quickly and flawlessly between two Windows 10 machines.

The only small annoyance so far is the provided USB cables. They appear to be high-quality cables, but they are very stiff and came folded up, as always. This means that the very light switch itself is completely at the mercy of the two cables. I ended up strapping the switch to my monitor stand as tastefully as I could manage just so I could control where it sat and where the cables went. I'm genuinely not sure how UGreen could improve this... maybe at least ship the USB cables in a roll/coil instead of folded, to eliminate those sharp bends that will never go away?

3.0 out of 5 starsArachnophobes beware. What they don't want you to see.

Have you noticed than none of the sellers of these devices ever show you a real life picture of these devices actually being used?

Marketers generally love to show pictures of their product in use. It helps people visualize themselves using the product. That makes people more inclined to buy their products.

So why not this product? See my attached picture. Arachnophobes relax. Despite appearances that is not a tarantula on top of my Mac mini. That is what these USB switch devices look like in actual use. My Mac mini has just many cables connected to it, but you don't see any of those cables. That's not because of Apple design magic. It is just plain simple, common sense that should be obvious to everyone. Unless, apparently, you are a USB switch designer. The Mac mini like most consumer electronics devices, has all connections at the back.

I searched in vain for one of these products on Amazon where ALL the connections were on the back. All of then have this terrible design flaw. Maybe it keeps costs down, but this particular USB3 switch is among the more expensive. It has no excuse for such poor design.

That is why I can only give this device a 3 star rating, despite none of its competition doing anything better. I think I might have seen a device like this with a wireless remote switching button. Maybe this is why?

If you can live with the virtual tarantula on your desk the functionality of this product is flawless. I have had no problems. I have it attached to my Mac mini and my gaming PC. I have the other side connected to a Logitech webcam, plus a gaming keyboard and mouse, with a lot of built in fancy lights. I have to use an eternal power supply because this is too much drain for a single USB port.

The overall performance works well. Despite having a mix of USB 3 and USB 2 devices connected, the USB 3 devices seem to operate at full speed. For technical functionality I give it a full five stars. But with a cluttered real world design that even the mothers of the product designers could never be proud of, overall I'm being generous with a 3.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly Reliable. Starting to have issues 1.5 years later!

This device is simple to setup and use. I found at the very beginning, If I swap between my laptop and desktop machine too many times in a day, the peripherals would stop working. I'm using a wacom tablet, logitech G510 gaming keyboard, and a gaming mouse.

I've also had to buy a separate power source cable to see if it helps with stability, especially for the keyboard since the keyboard draws so much power.

A year and a half later, my mouse is starting to freeze up. I tried plugging it directly to the laptop and it works perfectly fine, so it must be the switcher. Since I still had a free port on it, I swapped to the unused port, and that seemed to help for a day or two. But now that port isn't recognized anymore. So I swapped it back.

Just wanted to warn customers, this device is 80% reliable from my experience, and for the most part works for my use. (I try to only swap 1 or 2 times a day).

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for OSX, struggles with Windows 10 (power supply related)
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on June 29, 2022

Overall the build quality is decent, and when I'm on my OSX device it works well.

However when I switch to my Windows 10 machine it intermittently cuts power to all my devices (in my case, my keyboard, mouse, microphone, and webcam) and flickers back. This means every few seconds my keyboard will hold down a key I pressed while typing(gggggggg), or my mouse will stop responding entirely.

I plugged in the micro-USB power supply and still have the same issue. This was more than a little frustrating, because the micro-USB port on it is upside down, and I had to source a right-angled one for my configuration to work, which complicated matters.

Overall, decent for OSX, and okay for non-primary input devices that you don't need constant power to. Inconsistent otherwise.

UPDATE: This is very soon after my previous update, but the entire thing is bricked now and won't turn on. Not sure why. I purchased this March 2021, and it is presently July 2022, so it operated "okay" for its life span of about 17 months. That's not a bad life span, but the performance was so-so.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad product

The UGREEN product never worked properly under windows and worked halfway under ubuntu. I previously bought the same kind of product from another supplier and had exactly the same problems. That's why I wanted to buy this product from another vendor but had exactly the same problems. So, I don't recommend buying this type of product in general, no matter the supplier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly good - Some annoying issues.
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on October 16, 2021

I bought this to easily switch multiple USB devices between my Desktop PC and my work provided Macbook Pro.

* Logitech G610 Orion Keyboard
* Fiio E10K for my headphones
* Camlink 4k
* Yeti Nano

It worked perfectly and did exactly what it needed to for about 2 weeks. Then suddenly my Yeti Nano microphone started producing just some sort of static when plugged through the device.

No idea how that's even possible, this isn't an analog microphone or anything like that. When plugged directly to the PC there are no issues with it. But.. one device not working is pretty close to making this thing useless for my purposes as the goal was to avoind having to unplug or replug anything.

Unfortunate because I don't remember having a bad exprience with ugreen products, among the Amazon brands I've purchased their stuff has always felt robust. This seems like maybe low quality components are used but I have no idea honestly.

If you're not plugging a microphone (or maybe specifically a yeti nano), this could be a purchase to consider as, like I said, it does technically work well.

Work great at the beginning, the ports broke one by one after 8 months, 12 months and 18 months. I would expert it last longer for such price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall good

I used this product to be able to use the same mouse and keyboard on both my PC and my laptop. It's super simple to use and worked immediately. My keyboard has LED light but I didn't end up needing to plug the extra power. When switching between computers, the switch takes about 2 seconds. The only problem I encountered is that when my PC would go in sleep mode, when I would open it up again, my mouse and keyboard weren't recognized. I tried unplugging and replugging, changing back and forth between computers, waiting but nothing worked. I had to plug them directly in the PC for them to work which defeats the purpose of having this product. The workaround I found is to change my PC settings to avoid falling into sleep mode after a period of inactivity.

If you move it while it works, it sometime change the input pc. Some connection might be loose. I fixed it to the wall to stop the problem. Otherwise it works, but if there was a better option i would have took it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not all devices reconnect on switching

One of my devices won't reconnect when switching, I need to disconnect and reconnect it. Yet that same device gets switched between computers fine by my KVM switch, so I'd say my bigger KVM has some useful tricks up its sleeve that this switch doesn't have. Disappointed.
