A great story full of action and heart aches. A spell binding story that caused me to be late f I'mor supper on numerous occasions. You Cowboys and Cowgirls will surely get a charge from this story. So, "Giddy Up."
I just began reading William W. Johnstone books about two months ago. I have read the "Last Gunfighter" series & also "The Loner" series. All were excellent & it makes me wonder why I took so long in trying this writer. I think the most of it was the cost because they are more costly than other westerns. Since Amazon has begun offering them as a package deal at a better price I decided to give them a try. I am so very glad I did because they are among the best westerns I have ever read & I love westerns. "Luke Jensen Bounty Hunter" is the first of this series & is just as addictive as the others I have read. The story begins in New Mexico Territory with Luke "Smith," bounty hunter taking out the notorious Solomon Burke gang. Unfortunately for Luke, he does not escape without a scratch...matter of fact, he is shot three times & one bullet lodges in his spine. Even surviving this injury is not the end, but only the beginning of the trials Luke will be faced with. So, the stage is now set for Luke Jensen to become "Luke Smith," well known bounty hunter. An excellent tale that kept me up well into the night glued to the pages as the story unfolded. If you've read any of Mr. Johnstone's books you know that they are cleanly written & also offer a unique story into whatever particular character he has chosen to present to you the reader. If you select this series & if you are a fan of the old west you will not be disappointed in your choice. I highly recommend...
It is a good start of the two brothers getting re united at long last. After soo many years separated by war. I did not know about why Luke had not came back home after the war. As I said it is a real good read .
I fully enjoyed reading the history of Luke Jensen from his time that he served in the Confederate army to becoming a bounty hunter. Also in that history when he meets his younger brother Smoke (Kerby) Jensen and they share their history with each other. I look forward to more Luke Jensen bounty hunter books.
