This summer my 2000 BMW 528iT started giving me problems while in traffic...stalling almost completely out and throwing a P0102 code which would put my car in limp mode. I was constantly having to clear ECU codes while I was driving and I hated it.
Personally I did not want to spend $250 on an OEM air flow meter for a car that is 18 years old with 200+k miles and is used strictly for work. After looking around online I saw this one had decent reviews and for the price I figured I would give it a shot.
To my surprise it got rid of the P0102 code instantly and has been driving without issues for 2 weeks now. I am completely happy with this purchase.
My 2003 BMW 3-series wagon had an intermittent stalling problem. When coming to a stop, the RPMs would bounce up and down and the engine would cut out. I couldn't find any replicable conditions (it happened hot, cold, uphill, downhill, flat, in the rain, not in the rain - etc. There seemed to be no pattern.) I replaced the ICV, intake boot, and DISA valve, and after each the car would behave for a short period of time then immediately go back to intermittent stalling. I am very happy to say replacing the MAF with this product solved the issue definitively. I've driven the car extensively for a couple of weeks since installing and the RPMs are stable as can be, and the idle is smooth. I wish I would have started with this first - but you never know until its solved!
1999 BMW 329i E46 was having P1188/P1189 code for about 2 weeks. Then car was hesitating, misfiring, and intermittently shutting down.Disconnected old MAF and car ran fine. Ordered this MAF, installed and car has ran smooth as ever, no trouble codes. Even got rid of pesky intermittent P0401/2 that I have been chasing and replacing parts forever. Previous MAF was a used Bosch from eBay "OEM OEM Only".....that's crap, this MAF is well worth it.
REVIEW UPDATE 9/2/20: After less than 3000 miles driven, unfortunately the part failed and caused both the Service Engine Soon and Transmission indicator lights to turn on which triggered safe/limp mode and very rough shifting. After replacing with an OEM BMW mass airflow sensor all problems were resolved and the shifting is prefect again. Unfortunately this is one of those instances where an aftermarket part just couldn't perform to OEM standards.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: After installing a K&N intake on my 2004 BMW 325xi, the Service Engine Soon light came on. After doing some research I found out that it's a common problem for E46s after installing the intake, and either the MAF sensor needs to be cleaned, repaired, or replaced altogether. Since this part wasn't that much more expensive than buying the cleaner, I figured I'd give it a shot. During the 1st drive the light was still on so I assumed it didn't work, but on the 2nd engine start I was relieved to see that the light was off. Extremely great value and easy to install - highly recommend.
Was A little skeptical at first since I’ve always been told not to buy a cheap MAF but I trusted the reviews and my gut feeling. I want ahead and ordered the part along with the intake tubing as a bundle which I would recommend. Everything fit and I was able to reuse my bands.
Only real problem I came across was when I was trying to connect the mass airflow sensor to the connection it did not slide in smoothly at all. You can tell that there was a lot of excess molding where it should’ve been trimmed off so I did have to do a little bit of filing down on the connections to get the plug to fit but once I did that it went in like butter.
Started the car right up and I could tell there was an improvement right away. I am now on day three on using this Amazon mass airflow sensor for my 2000 323CI BMW M54 engine with no problems.
Car running worse than before I started. Plugging this in puts the transmission in failsafe, all I have to do is plug in the old and that goes away. There's something not right with this part. Stick with Siemens or Delphi.
Good product and quality, i have been testing for about a month, with -20 to -27 C my 323i 2000 rough idle has disappeared completely the MAF was the issue. Since i bought this one ,car is running smoothly with below 27 C. Thanks for your good quality.
Due to some negative reviews which i felt valid i decided at first to return this MAF upon receiving it but instead kept the return label and tried it on my car, it works, it solved the limp mode issue and the CEL and my car is running great again. Will see its longivity.
