Unlike old-school 2D Sonic games but still pretty fun and looks great on the Switch!

I grew up playing the classic 2D Sonic games for Genesis and Gamegear and I own Sonic Mania Plus for Switch so I figured I'd give this game a try. It's definitely different from the classics but not in a bad way. There are some sections of some levels that are 2D like the old ones, but a lot of the game is from a 3rd-person (or should I say 3rd-hedgehog) perspective in a 3D environment. I haven't beaten the game yet but so far you get to play as Sonic as well as a custom character that you get to create yourself. It has two difficulty levels, Normal and Hard. Since I'm pretty new to this type of Sonic game I've been playing on Normal difficulty and it's pretty forgiving, although it doesn't record your level times unless you're playing on Hard. The good thing is though it looks like you can change the difficulty any time, you're not locking into playing a certain difficulty for the whole game. The storyline is pretty standard for Sonic but the cutscenes and graphics look great on the Switch...seriously, Tails is super cute in HD! Overall I think it's a fun game and any Sonic lover would enjoy it, but don't expect it to play like the old ones.
