To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Bought this after deciding I needed to do something about my shyness and self-confidence as it was effecting my social life and getting me down. I really liked it. The writer was great - Not too much self-helpy, you can do it cheese, which really usually puts me off these types of books. Recommended *****
This book had a lot of practical tips to use in boosting my confidence. First half was a lot of background info that helped me understand how confidence works in our body, and other half was purely practical. It was easy to read and having this advice really helped me!
I didn't expect much from this book but it was really worth reading. There are many great concepts mentioned in this short book which can lead to further research. Some paragraphs are really so well formed that I wrote them down to my journal to read through when I need something to push my confidence.
I was really surprised at the breadth as well as the depth of information in this book. I bought it because I have a lot of confidence issues and as a consequence, a lot of self-esteem and assertiveness issues. I was just expecting a few pointers how to cope a little better but this book was a life changer for me. The author has done some great research on the subject. It really shows in how the book links together the various areas it touches on. The author doesn't just approach confidence and self esteem as being the same in all situations. Confidence in work and relationships are totally different and both scenarios are addressed.
I loved the practicality of the book. It does deal a little with the why of low confidence but its mostly about the how. I've read a lot of self improvement books in the hope I could solve my confidence issues and this is definitely streets ahead of the rest. It even introduces tools like NLP and mindfulness. There is a lot to work through but this book is definitely a project that needs to be done over time. It has helped me immensely so far and I'm going to keep applying the principles to build my confidence even more.
The information is fantastic so how much benefit you get out of the book is really up to how hard you are willing to work at applying the lessons. It's no magic wand but it is realistic and effective. Very highly recommended.
I guess confidence is a crucial thing for all successful humans, but especially for males. I believe that NLP techniques are effective tools for changing your behavior and mindset. Emotional intelligence is a next important topic because we all indeed are creatures of emotion. Btw there are several really brilliant quotes of famous people here in this book.
Ms. Gates has placed a profound path for anyone like myself that wants a better understanding of our inner person and how that person deals with society with greater self-esteem. Teaching anyone wanting to be assertive and confident without being aggressive. An informative presentation that is not heavy in psycho-babble that is extremely light read.
