Someone else's review said: "I was pretty disappointed by this book. I’m a big Alpha Legion fan and was hoping this book would have pretty much anything to do with the actual description. The writing was pretty sub par, character deaths were either bland or senseless, there were many elements that were not described or explained well, with the most you get for an explanation is “because plot”. I got about halfway through before it became a slog to read, hoping for some redeeming moment. It never came. With an ending I’d consider “fanfic rubbish”, I would highly recommend you spend your money on a better 40k book."

I would second that opinion fully, particularly with respect to the "because plot". It's just not a very good book sadly.

On the plus side: it's sort of funny, in an unintentional dorky way.

This book is of curiosity value only. The action is difficult to visualise or treat with any credence, the plot is a bit silly, the deceptions cheap, etc.

It's more like good fan fiction than actual canon. And it is just one action scene after another.

It passed the time well enough, but it wasn't as good as the author's other works.

I'm forced to agree with other low star reviews for this title. The secondary characters are moderately interesting, but I didn't care when they died. Even the protagonist felt a little flat.

Rob Sanders' writing would be much better if his editor pushed him. His writing overuses forms of the word "sizzle," with the word sometimes appearing every third page, when another word or description would do just as well. He has done this for the last 3 novels of his that I've read. He also overused "daemonic brawn" nearer the end of this novel. Get a thesaurus.
