I bought the FireTV Lite, and thought I'd lost the remote. So, I bought this one, because my Harmony 650, wasn't able to turn on/off the FireTV stick.

This thing is magnificent. It easily (via internet, I'm assuming via b/t on the FireStick), pulled codes to turn on/off my LG TV, and turn on/off and control the volume of, my Denon receiver.

Would buy again. I just wish it was a bit longer, or, it had a small pico speaker, for when it gets lost.

The back cover is loose

We bought this control because the kids broke the other one and on this one the back cover where the batteries are keeps opening. We loose it often in the sofa or the blankets because it’s that loose. The volume works but not the voice recognition- we never use that function anyways.

Awesome Upgrade, But Hardware Issues - WiFi Issues

UPATED: Recently I started to experience network buffering issues. I performed all of the optimization techniques, but my WiFi signal was below 1 Mbps, even though I have 10 Mbps signal from my router. The problem is overheating inside the USB controller (Fire TV Basic). My simple solution was to remove the plastic cover but there are other solutions you can find online.

Upgrade path delivered Alexa voice, volume control to my soundbar and TV input switching. Great so far, but after 5 days <;Select, Navigate> cursor movement caused my Fire TV to re-boot. This makes an otherwise great product virtually useless. I contacted Amazon technical support 3 times but their suggestions were just a waste of my time; un-pair, power off, remove batteries, etc. Finally Amazon authorized a replacement remote, but after doing research on the symptoms, the real cause (and other suggestions too) solved the problems I experienced. I'm surprised with so many identical reports of this re-boot issue that their tech support is not aware of the real problem or willing to admit there is an issue.

Here's my solution. The Fire TV Basic unit came with a 1.0 A USB power supply. As I added functionality with the upgrade Alexa remote, the power consumption became greater than 1.0 A. As a temporary measure, I substituted a Blackberry 1.3 A power supply and so far no re-boots. I have ordered a 2.4A (maximum) power supply to permanently solve the problem. I speculate when the firmware encounters an error condition it cannot solve, it simply re-boots with no error message.

I hope Amazon recognizes this fault and includes a replacement USB power supply with future Alexa remotes? I also discovered that any peripheral that uses a USB connection for power ; i.e. an HDMI switcher, may discover the USB power source, possibly even a TV USB port is not powerful enough.

Breaks too easily

I bought a new remote 3 months ago and it is already broken. It won't connect to the tv and after taking the time to change the batteries and reset the remote multiple times, it continuously disconnects and makes watching tv extremely frustrating. The price does not reflect the quality.

11/08/2019: Reducing my rating mainly because the back cover from the remote has loosen over a short period of time, very annoying, feels like it's going to fall off.

Very happy, just wished I could use the MIC functions with it also. For firmware upgrades u need one of the Amazon TV products, it would be nice if Amazon fixes the MIC option to use with other hardware. I can only hope. No longer need to use a separate remote to turn on the TV or adjust the volume. One remote for everything. :)

Could not pair with first generation fire tv. Not sure why it isn't compatible with all fire tv models. The black box version was not able to find it during pairing process. Downloaded the app instead for your phone, it's free but they haven't incorporated volume and power buttons on it still.

Takes a long time to tune in a program

It does a lot, however some programs are very glitchy to start and with that it takes a long time to get into a program even with lightning fast wifi. On the other hand with our smart tv the programs load instantly.
Its kinda a frustrating process.

Worked ok initially and then the batteries kept dying. I did all the factory / software resets I was instructed to by Amazon but batteries were still dying after 2 weeks. It was just over a year old so Amazon wouldn't replace it because the warranty had expired. This seems to be an issue with the remote.
