Doesn't work well with older FireStick
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on July 2, 2021
We bought our FireStick in 2018 and got the "basic edition" but lost the remote during a move. So I purchased this one to replace it and was excited about the new fancy features on it, particularly the volume buttons. But they don't work and neither do the power or mute buttons. So it's basically the same as the remote that came with the stick we bought 3 years ago which, if memory serves, was $50 total for both the stick and the remote and now this replacement remote was an entire $40 by itself. Doesn't feel like it was worth it but compared to the FireStick app that you can use to control the stick that works maaaaybe 2% of the time, the overpriced remote was the lesser of two evils. Even if the compatibility issue was because of our TV which is an older TV, its incompatibility with older TVs should be disclosed in the remote's description because newer technologies like bluetooth connectivity not working with older TVs is not common knowledge and should not be assumed to be common knowledge especially by a company as massive as Amazon.
