I was thrilled to get this for my husband. We looked all over and Infinity War has been difficult to find. I bought him the copy as a surprise. However, the surprise came while watching it. The video kept breaking up and every once in a while freezing. Very disappointing since we are very big Marvel fans.
Warning to potential buyers: If you want to play this movie on a blu-ray drive on a computer, you'll have to expect lots of extra and potentially illegal steps just to view it. An old Blu-ray reader will have issues. You should be alright with an up to date blu-ray reader.
Congratulations Marvel, you did it again. This movie is nothing short of amazing and you'll be thrilled to finally be able to watch it again and again to find a tremendous amount of references and crazy details hidden in all scenes.
Congratulations Disney, you did it again. I, as a legitimate paying customer, using a legitimate PC Blu-Ray drive, using a legitimate Blu-Ray reader software, can't even watch the movie on my computer because of completely ridiculous Anti-piracy protection. I could only watch it legally due to the digital version that comes with the box, but it's far from the same quality and network usage. But the digital version has nothing on the HOURS of special features on the bluray.
This war on piracy forces legitimate customers to use illegitimate ways (read: piracy) to access the content they've paid for. Stop waging this war and start offering better services than the pirates. Then you'll see the pirates disappear.
However, when I rewatched it. I found a lot of things that doesn't make sense, and the story became so weak. Don't get me wrong, the actions sequences were amazing, the battle against Thanos and the Battle in Wakanda were visually appealing and exciting. The more I watch it, the more I get angry at small things I should've caught when watching it previously. Overall, it's OK and worth a watch and the quality of the battle scenes are exciting and engaging, but the story becomes stale and questionable actions and plot holes arise...
I'm a big fan of this genre, DC,Marvel whatever but i have to say they have really dropped the ball with this home release. As far as i can remember, the whole film was in IMAX format and looked epic at the cinema but the bluray and 3d blu ray is in the letterbox format. More technical people than me will explain this better but i can see NO reason whatsoever for this to happen. Ive just re-watched Antman last night and im sure most, if not all of that is full screen 3d. Fantastic! So why the hell is the finale to 3 phases of the MCU treated so badly? If someone can answer that please let me know but im guessing its money as usual. It really did take me out of the film several times when its apparent that the framing of the shot is trying really hard to not miss a characters head etc as there's a HUGE amount of the original picture missing, or just when i find myself thinking about whats missing from what i saw at the cinema. Ive only watched it once at home but i seem to remember you don't see how Thanos knocks Falcon out of the air as its missing in the black bars. Though i could be wrong. The actual film is great. Its not quite up there with my favorites but to be fair, its not a normal film at all. It assumes total knowledge of the other films but i think Marvel have earned this expectation. The ending?.....most people now know...dont they??? All i'll say is the impact was unavoidably lessened due to which characters went which way..if you see what i mean. But i was never totally sure how it was going to end so it really did have impact. Id probably give 4/5 for the film only but as its a blu ray review it has to lose a star for the lack of IMAX. And i quite understand why some people have given much less for that reason as it seems a totally pointless and incredibly annoying omission. Particularly as its the 1st part of the finale for a 10 year project and particularly as other, older MCU films don't make this mistake. Cheers
I’d have given this one star after my first viewing of this. It’s a very frustrating movie with absurd plot holes - particularly of the “you have a guy that controls time, GO BACK IN TIME YOU MORON” variety.
However, knowing how bad it is, the second viewing wasn’t nearly as bad. It’s still the worst movie in the entire series (so far, anyway), but if you know that going in, it can be worth watching. Even if only for completeness. You just have to accept that it’s (a) an unfortunate necessity to set up for the sequel, and (b) still got the usual fancy fights and witty banter. It is the movie equivalent of the stereotypical bimbo supermodel. Shallow and tragic, but eye candy.
