It’s a loose retelling of The Little Mermaid, with a PT Barnum twist 😍 Mind you a Barnum before his circus show, but still Barnum 😁 The writing style was gorgeous and magical, and really gave the novel its fairy tale flare 💜 And the ache of longing threaded through this story, oof, it was so good 😍 If you like historical fiction with a fantasy twist, this one might just be for you 😘 Also it’s square people, how cute is that??? 😍

Like pretty much everyone else,I thoroughly enjoyed The Greatest Showman, and was intrigued to see this book featured the title character. I was delighted to discover that it offered much more - the central.love story was enchanting and enjoyable. I was mesmerized by this book, and would happily read other work by this author.

An original telling of The Little Mermaid. The Mermaid is set in late 19th Century; the time of travelling shows full of wonders. I enjoyed this story and the exploration of what it means to be human. How can someone who isn't human survive in a world more interested in exploitation & hatred than compassion & acceptance?
