We bought this bike rack for a 2 week trip to NB.

Installed easily on our vehicle, which was nice. Though not the easiest to figure out how to get 3 bikes (one adult and 2 kid) to fit appropriately. It definitely takes some finesse to situate each bike just so.

Unfortunately within a week of using it (not owning it sadly, we missed the return date by 2 days), the pin cable snapped. This pin is what keeps the rack in an upright position. It just sucks because now we have to keep track of this lonely pin that is no longer attached to the rack by its cable anymore.

I have seen much better quality at our local sports stores and they regularly come on sale. I would strongly suggest shopping around a bit before settling on this particular bike rack.

Don't review most amazon purchases and always wait until I've used the product enough to give a fair review. This is one item that I felt deserved a review as people can spend a considerable amount of money on a bike rack. First of all the rack came well packaged and assembly was easy. My first test run with the rack was in the city with one bike loaded. Most people consider hwy driving to be more demanding on a bike rack, but I feel that city driving places more stresses on the rack due to constant turning, pot holes, etc. Only used the available straps on the rack and the bike was stable the entire drive. Have since driven on the hwy. approx 700kms and the rack was good. I did notice some slight movement in the rack, but I think all racks would do this. Also used a couple of extra straps to secure the bike. I read one review where the entire rack came out of the hitch on the hwy so as a precaution I cut down a ratchet strap and was able to loop it through the bottom post of the rack and onto the hitch loops. This was not necessary, but just provided peace of mind that if the pin failed or rack became loose there was no way for it to completely fall out. The locking knob is a nice feature, but I've only used the rack about 10 times, so I can't comment on it's longevity. So far so good. Would recommend this rack 100%.

Very good, i tie-wrapped the bike for extra protection, the bikes dont move when you drive into a Big hole on the road… i had a small problem the third time i installed it on my car, the lock pin got jammed in my hitch because i installed it too much further so it didnt go in the "good hole" i had to disassemble the mechanism that tight the rack into the hitch

I am not an active biker. I just needed one to carry 4 bikes (2 adults, 2 kids) whenever we wanted to go to biking trails. Obviously I didn't want to spend a fortune on some of the industry standard names. The problem with bike racks is that, if you do not buy a quality one, it is as good as not buying one. In this dilemma I bumped into this product and was surprised to see great reviews, while the cost was very competitive. Who are you kidding, this bike rack costs 1/3rd the price of some of the great names. I simply wanted to try this for myself and if it doesn't work, I can always return it.

Thanks to Allen, it never gave me the hassle of returning it. It is a great product at an amazing price. It comfortably holds 5 bikes, fits perfectly on my 2019 Subaru Ascent 2" receiver. Its got a few glitches like it is not very convenient to lower a fully loaded rack to open the trunk. Other than that it is an extremely nice product and would recommend this to anyone looking to buy good rack at an awesome price.

UPDATE: After 2 months of usage, it is observed that when there are no bikes and the stand folded down, the main rack doesn't sit still. Its wobbly and makes this weird noise. A simple solution is to tie it with a band but yet its not a good thing. I wish it was sat sturdier.

As some has mentioned, if the plastic tightening knob every fails or broken, you will not be able to install the rack or to remove it from the hitch. You also need to be creative to ensure the bike does not swing too much during the transport to avoid scratches on the car, rack, and bike. I use elastic straps to prevent the bike wheel from turning towards my fender, as well as strapping it against the rack to prevent swinging of the bike during acceleration/deceleration. Overall, it's still a good product for the price.

Really pleased with this bike rack. Wasn't sure what all was included or how it all worked in detail, but was surprised to know that this product had some real thought put into it.

It has a locking mechanism built into where it mounts in the hitch receiver which 1) locks the carrier to the hitch and 2) expands within the hitch making for a tight secure fit.
Thinking about the fact that this carrier saved me from buying a locking hitch pin for ~$20, the $100 I paid made it a steal compared to any other carrier at the time.

The only critiques would just be that the straps used to secure the bikes aren't the easiest/quickest on the market, and the tilting motion (of the vertical post to access the hatch) does not go down far enough for my 1st generation CRV's hatch/tailgate to open as it swings sideways. The top glass portion does clear however. Any hatch that swings up like a conventional van or SUV should be fine though. On the plus side, it prevents bikes from tilting too far down and either hitting something or being too heavy to lift back up.

Overall, good build quality, hefty, the cotter/hitch pins used to fold the carrier are linked together and connected to the carrier with wire (impossible to lose any of the pins).

Have used the bike rack twice on the back of RV, seems to be holding together ok..
Locking mechanism into hitch isn’t great, however is working ok, hopefully will stay that way..
It’s a 3 bike rack, however really 2 because the space between is tight.. straps to hold the bike to rack are ok at best, would’ve preferred non plastic and Velcro added..
