I have an ECatrike and bought the Coho XC trailer from Burley. The size of their Burley Ballz is NOT standard Metric or standard you will never find a bolt to use. Worthless in my book.

Nach rund 2000km mit meinem E-Bike/COHO xc Gespann habe ich eine böse Überraschung mit den Ballz erlebt. Diese Kunststoffkugeln werden von speziellen Sicherungsringen auf der Achsmutter gehalten. Leider musste ich erleben, wie ein Sicherungsring absprang!!!
Zum Glück geschah das nicht bei voller Fahrt. Ich hatte mein schwer beladenes Gespann gerade abgestellt, als plötzlich das Vorderrad zur Seite schwenkte und es zu einer Dreh-Kippbewegung des Anhängergelenks kam. Es gab ein dumpfes "Plop-Geräusch" und ich musste feststellen, dass die linke Kupplungskugel fast von der Achsmutter gerutscht war! Zum Glück fand ich noch den Sicherungsring, der komplett verbogen war, was mir nichts Gutes zu dessen Materialqualität aussagte. Tatsächlich konnte ich den Ring fast mühelos mit einer Zange in seine ursprüngliche Form bringen und wieder montiieren. Immerhin hat er dann noch 30km seinen Dienst getan, bis er sich beim nächsten Parken erneut und diesmal für immer "verabschiedete".
In einer nahegelegenen Zweiradwerkstatt bekam ich dann zum Glück schnelle, professionelle Hilfe. Ein Sicherungsring der entsprechend internationalen Normen noch in der DDR produziert wurde hält nun mit größtmöglicher Sicherheit die linke Kupplungskugel und für die rechte Seite werde ich am Ende meiner Reise ebenfalls einen Austausch vornehmen. Beachtet bitte dabei, dass es bei ordnungsgemäß gefertigten Ringen zwei Seiten gibt, das ist kein Fertigungsmangel, im Gegenteil, das könnt ihr als Qualitätsmerkmal betrachten. Auf der einen Seite scharfkantig und auf der Anderen abgerundet. Wenn ihr den Sicherungsring aufsetzt, sollte immer die scharfkantige Seite zu euch zeigen, so kann sich der Ring gut in die Führungsnut "graben " wenn er seitlichen Druck erhält, das erhöht seinen sicheren Halt wesentlich!

Part of a stupendously idiotic connection system for Burley's bike trailers

These Burley Ballz nuts are designed to fit only a single bolt, in this case a m10-1.0 mm thread. If your bicycle uses ANY other wheel hub bolt (which 99% of bike are different), that means this product will not work for you, at all. This is true of ther only other Burley Ballz nut, which also doesn't work for most bikes.

All of this would be fine if Burley offered a WIDE variety of bolt sizes, but they do not. In their infinite wisdom

So why does this matter? if you want to use their VERY expensive trailers like the Coho XC, you need Burley Ballz. With only two options (neither of which work for the vast majority of bikes) these are a very poor solution.
Burley needs to SERIOUSLY re think their trailer connectivity.

Zudem ist in dem Produkt kein Aluminium verbaut, die Mutter bestehen aus Stahl, was in diesem Fall ja auch sinnvoll ist.
