Was looking for a solution that allowed us to use a bike rack WHILE pulling a tent-trailer. This seemed like the best, and safest option. We after a total of 12-15 hrs of driving (much on bumpy roads & highways) it's still in perfect condition. *I should mention that I added 2 ratchet straps to keep our bikes from banging against one another and "just in case".
Only downside is that once it's on, you can't open your back gate. So be mindful of your Order of Operations! (BEDMAS!)

Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Spare Tire Rack did not perform as advertised. 2 bikes were attached to rack as per instructions. Driving on highway , within a short distance , bike rack fell off damaging both bikes. There was Damage to the rack and most importantly costly damage to the bikes!! One bike is non-operational at present. Disappointed with this Allen product.

This thing rubbed paint off my brand new bike. Had to wrap it with pipe insulator, but the damage is already done. The straps don't really reach very well, I routed them through the spare itself to the swing arm. The fit on the tire was not to my liking... it was on there, but I did not trust it.

I had purchased this for my 2018 Wrangler JL. I bought it in Southern California to haul my 2 bikes back up to Northern California. The install was super easy and everything seemed to go well. About 2 hours into the drive we stopped for gas and noticed that the rack seemed to be a little loose, no big deal so we tightened it and went on our way. Maybe about 2 more hours and we hit a little bump in the road and it fell completely off. It was dragging behind me until I was able to safely pull over. My bikes are completely ruined and are not even salvageable. I contacted the company as soon as I was able to fit the bikes in the cabin with a dog and luggage, and they are going to be contacting me tomorrow. Hopefully they can do something for my experience.

The rack was installed correctly and was in perfect shape.

Bought the JL specific bike rack. Great concept and was able to mount the rack to just the tire it self. I had to use a longer strap to make it work. Just to find out that the support in the back interferes with the back windshield wipers after full installation. Tried to set the rack up higher o that it would interfere but the rack was not stable. On another note it sits well with the JK wrangler models.

I installed this according to the directions and one i put my bike on the rack falls off. I have the straps tight and everything in place. Return window as gone so can’t return.

Pros: Once you get it assembled, it installs onto your car in a snap. Very easy

Cons: Biggest con is it only fits bicycles that have a straight bar on top of the frame. Female bikes or any odd shaped frames will NOT fit. So that forces you to buy an adapter from them. And since I have 2 bikes I needed to buy 2 of these adapter bars. That caused the initial price of this to double. So it is really not that good of a value when you consider you need to make multiple purchases.

Rubbing

So the rack actually rubs the sides of the 3rd taillight above the tire on the sides (not cool). It needs to be wider slightly.
Also it says it’s for 2 bikes but it really should say for one. When you have 2 bikes on there they bump and scratch each other, also not cool.
