How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsExcellent read

Cool story, interesting ideas and neat plot twists. Only drawback is it could easily have been a couple hundred pages shorter. The middle drags.

3.0 out of 5 starsSo so

After reading a glowing review in the Toronto Star I just had to read this book. I almost quit half way through as I was tired of the foul mouthed teenage girl who was one of the main characters. Other characters didn’t ring true and I only kept reading because I paid for it. The second half was better, with more science, but I was happy when the book ended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully immersive, terrifyingly prescient

A slow-motion apocalyptic thriller that winds together so many real-world threads ripped from today’s headlines (though written over a year ago), creating a world that is eerily familiar and strongly engaging. Chuck takes us on a journey through fear and hope, hate and compassion, anxiety and comfortβ€”by way of bizarre, incredible, devastating events while staying just half a step from the world outside our window.

Strongly recommend for anyone who wants to feel our current real-world viral apocalypse might actually be the better option!

This is a fantastic read…but boy oh boy is it harrowing to read in 2021, especially hearing now (early May) about murcomycosis cases in India. Published just months before covid hit and well…read it and see. So good!

Hard to put down, Chuck Wendig wove an eerily familiar narrative, at least for anyone who hasn’t spent the last five years in a coma.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Read of Many Years

I enjoyed every minute of this book - an amazing story with full, rich characters. I read slower and slower not wanting it to end but it did, solidly and satisfyingly. It is the best book I have read in a long time and I am off to console myself with Wendigs other stories.

Reminiscent of The Stand in many ways, but without the too easy coincidences, Wanderers grabs you and won't let go till the final sentence. It is an epic tale of "before the end times" that holds many truths of our current world. It is terrifying and hopeful at the same time. Well worth the time spent.

Twists and turns of the flocks journey mirror those of this plot. It’s a CDC detective ( corona virus ) era mystery , adventure, love story in a post apocalyptic setting . Entertaining from start to the last page .

5.0 out of 5 stars A great summer read

I bought Wanderers because I follow Chuck on twitter and much of the conversation there was about how this was a great summer read. It lived up to the hype. An innovative and fresh story and a true page turner. I highly recommend it.
