It does tighten up the bar that fits into the receiver, so it does help to reduce that "rattle".

Pretty good but U bolt is soft

Easy install, works really well. But when tightening on my 2" receiver the U bolt bent somewhat. Seems to be quite soft as I did not over tighten, but just to the point of holding the hitch rattle free. It still works fine. I'll eventually have to purchase a new U bolt.

After using the MaxxHaul 50023 Hitch Tightener Anti Rattle Stabilizer only three times, the nut started giving me problems. I couldn't screw the nut onto the tightener with my fingers and looked like the thread in the nut I could see some metal starting to shred and left metal shavings on the ground. The fourth time I used it, the nut wouldn't come off the tightener even with my socket wrench. I had to finally use an impact wrench to remove the nut for the tightener and the nut threads melted and the tightener threads were sheered off because the nut was stuck on the tightener. The impact wrench did take the nut off, but completely damaged the tightener threads and nut threads were wasted. Materials used seemed below standards. The threading may have also been a problem, but not sure where these nuts and tighteners were made. I hope MaxxHaul will do a Quality Control review of the materials used and making sure the materials won't fail under pressure, as this tightener is certainly doing when attaching to what's being hauled on the hitch. I do use MaxxHaul products and haven't had a problem until now. If I continue to have problems with the materials MaxxHaul uses, I will consider another product line.

even better suited for a 2" hitch

not sure why it didn't come with a 1 1/4" u bolt would of been better since that's what im using it on

i dont like the big gaps on both sides of the u bolt when used with 1 1/4" hitch but whatever!

6/6/22 update: I've used it 2 times and already failing still getting alot of movement and the part where it flares up barely touches the hitch and where it does the metal already has gotten worn out! Not good quality metal!

As the title says: Not working for me - metal plate is deforming/bending instead of being tight. The tighter I turn the nuts, the more the plate just bends/deforms and the less it stops the wobble.

After two or three uses, the threads on one side of the U-Bolt bound up pretty bad. Then, after four or 5 uses, the threads on the other side bound up so bad that I ended up shearing off the bolt when I was trying to undo it. It’s a low quality u-bolt so if you plan on taking it on and off regularly, I recommend buying a higher quality one.

All is fine and good with this but one side of the u-bolt has not been threaded so a poor rating for quality control the bent piece of steel looks great nice paint but I am just going to go buy a u-bolt so I do not have to mess with the mail. Heads up it may be a good product but mine had a problem.

It's just a piece of metal and a couple nuts. The value is in not having to separately find and buy the pieces, which would have been cheaper. But when it comes missing parts, I'm back to trying to source my own hardware individually anyway. Tried to get through to the manufacturer, no answer.
