I use WD Red's in all NAS's and have never had a problem with them. This one arrived on time and was packaged well. I installed it in my Synology DS216play and had it up and running in minutes. WD Red HDD's are a bit more expensive than other brands but my history with them has always been positive so I'm willing to spend the little extra for their reliability. I will definitely buy one again.
1.0 out of 5 starsAwful drives that are not meant for nas

I bought 6 of these to use in a raid 5 array but was forced to use as a mirror with one spare drive. these HDD do not play well with raid 5 as they are Shingled, despite the misleading "NAS" specification, these drives are not meant for nas. DO NOT USE if you're planning to set them up in parity as they can't be rebuild.
A welcome addition to my Synology NAS, and making WD Red's the sole brand serving files in my SOHO environment.
The hard drive arrived in good condition, and in a sealed antistatic bag. The bubble wrap however, didn't go around the drive, but rather lay on top. The drive was therefore laying on the bottom of the box, and free to move.
1 of 4 drives in an order arrived faulty. Return process very easy. This is the first WD Drive to arrive dead out of over 100 ive ordered. I have never had a red die on me after using them for many many years.
