To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I got this as a birthday present for my daughter. I was happy I was able to put Disney Plus on here, but haven’t tried that hard to put YouTube for kids on it. In fact, I am trilled that my daughter can only add Amazon approved apps for her age range, and gives me the ability to block access to Caillou.
Ordered this with the subscription. When I try to use it, it says my region isn’t eligible for the subscription. Even though I ordered it from amazon.ca and I live in Canada. It’s telling me I have to repurchase the subscription. Super annoyed about that. I’ve tried changing the settings but it sends me on a wild goose hunt and there’s no way fix or change anything. UPDATE: After doing some online searching, I found that apparently the free one year subscription you have to be in the USA. It would have been nice if that was stated and clear.
Fire those in Canada that bought off Amazon.ca... Are you getting the "freetime is not available in your country" error? This is what I did...
1. Make sure your device is registered using your amazon credentials. You do this on the actual device. 2. Goto amazon.COM *NOT* amazon.CA sign in and go to account>>manage account and devices. Under the devices tab you will see your new tablet. 3.select the "preferences" tab 4. Select country /region settings 5. Under current country Change to Canada 6. Select the "click here" link directly below 7. Click "learn about" link 8.click "transfer your kindle account to amazon.ca" 9. Congrats, your done and the nightmare is over! 10. Spend a few minutes wondering why this whole process is so convoluted and why it wasn't already clearly laid out or fixed in any way...
The only reason I didn’t give this five stars is because the charger is terrible, it’s really loose and falls out at the slightest touch and it takes forever to full charge. The system itself is great, my son loves it!
I am liking this product for my 3 and 4 year old, however the setup was a pain and it took my a long time to figure out how to add/share content ( and I consider myself savvy enough with google ;) ) Cases are great, so far the product is holding up to my kiddos
Overall it's good enough for a child. The case is light and squishy, and is great at protecting the tablet. The free subscription and two year warranty is a plus. The battery life is only 2.5-3 hours on a charge, not the stated 7 hours. The tablet is not very quick, older/cheaper processor maybe. Putting apps on the child's profile is more complicated than it needs to be. I honestly wouldn't recommend this. My kid likes it, so we'll keep it, but I feel like I could have converted an older tablet with an OtterBox case and gotten a faster machine with better battery.
Not a huge fan of this tablet. My son had an iPad for years but now my daughter is old enough so I bought both of them new ones for Christmas to use on the airplane before a holiday. The battery life is dreadful on these compared to my 5 year old ipad. Within 2 hours it was dead... 5 more hours to go on the plane. My daughter's was useless coming home because when I turned it on once we got on the plane it said offline and NONE of the apps I had previously downloaded would load. I had assumed since they were downloaded they should have been there when no wifi was available like the ipad. Super disappointed. Might return them for the sheer fact that the battery is always dead.
always been an apple user but wanted to try android this time for its affordability..nice size for kids and very light especially with the case on it..just a little bit confusing to figure out downloading the apps and switching from one profile to another..the included freetime subscription also does not offer as much as i expected and more paid apps show up instead of free ones that are supposed to be available..just was lucky we got them on sale, but still a bit pricey if at regular price for what it offers..my girls got them as Christmas presents and have not used them as much yet as i would have expected them to..battery takes longer to charge as well..they still use my iphone more due to its user friendliness..will do an update if usage improves over the next few weeks
The most attractive thing about the Fire tablet is the price. It was well within our budget which is what led us to buying it, but after trying it out for abit it wasn't what we were hoping for. The battery life is what really ruined it for us. It barely lasts 3hrs before it needs a charge. It also felt pretty slow compared to our other tablets, and the screen quality was sub par.
That said, the software and apps were perfect and exactly what we wanted. If the specs of the tablet were just abit better (bigger battery, faster, better screen) then it would of been a keeper. And maybe it is a perfect tablet for someone who needs a simple tablet for kids and isn't picky about anything; but that wasn't us. I'll be keeping my eyes out for the newer models to be available in Canada.
The screen went dull after a week or so of use. There was no setting button to brighten the screen. They have lots of games and shows but no search button so I got tired of scrolling looking for Peppa Pig episodes. My husband didn’t read the how to booklet but I was a little frustrated with no search or settings button and couldn’t download apps I wanted for my daughter. We are returning it and husband wants to get an iPod touch for her. I simply want less screen time for her.
I ordered this tablet for my child to play games and watch videos. It works well for most things, except Roblox. It keeps kicking us out! Called customer support who replaced the Tablet and it did the same thing with the new one. They could barely log onto the device, it kept kicking them out, oh the irony. I called again and asked if it could be exchanged for a bigger one, put the price towards a new one and I would pay the difference (friends have a bigger one and works fine). I was told that wasn't possible as my return time just expired. Asked to speak to someone that could return, was told no one could help me. Next option could return again for the same thing or have someone call me from their IT and would put in a ticket. I accepted option 2 the second time. I never received an email or call in 6 days so far.
