HP has gone flimsy with this new line of printers
Reviewed in Canada on December 2, 2019
I’m not sure what has become of the once venerable HP company, but this printer is extremely flimsy. I am picturing a business unit review with plans to squeeze extra margin from the prosumer printer decision by sourcing lower cost materials and parts. This unit replaces my now defunct HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 which was much higher quality. I don’t have high hopes for the longevity of this new printer and I will certainly not buy another HP product anytime soon. Also, customer service is almost nonexistent with half hour or longer wait times the norm.
Long-term update: This printer is a worthless piece of trash. Nothing but headaches and today after he performed an auto software update I got a blue screen of death. After unplugging it and plugging it back in in an attempt to get it to restart, it now tells me that I am no longer subscribed to the instant Ink program! I’m one step away from throwing it in the trash and going with a different brand.
Update after 14 months. Issues still unresolved. Print head is now defective; cannot resolve connection problems with HP server for instant ink service to work; absolutely zero customer support. I finally gave up today; the printer will be delivered to a recycling depot and ink cartridges sent back to HP. I have ordered a Canon multifunction printer with mega tanks. It’s a sad day for HP to have lost a loyal customer. They will be hard pressed to ever be able earn back my confidence in the brand.
