5.0 out of 5 starsThanks Sony!
Reviewed in Canada on October 13, 2019
Where do I start. These things are great! Coming from the Sennheiser HD 4.40BT, these things pack WAY more sound. I was expecting some mediocre bass with marginally loud volume. It was nothing but that though. If you turn the bass up to 10 on the app, these things will literally shake. The noise canceling is also really nice. If you have a loud gaming PC, it will cancel all of that. They are also great on the bus. One thing to note is the grey colour cannot be found anywhere else then amazon and Best Buy here in Canada. I don’t know what Sony did but it is what it is. The only drawback is that it doesn’t come with a hard shell case. Being completely honest, all of us will use the bag/case then get lazy to take them in and out as time goes on.

10/10

3.0 out of 5 starsThe only positive is the design
Reviewed in Canada on August 25, 2019
I have the 1000xm3's, beats studio 3, sennheiser hd 4.40. I would not recommend these even though they are very identical to the xm3's in look. Sound is average, even my sennheisers sound more premium than these and the beats fit much better on the head. For the price you don't even get a hard case. Sony has disappointed with these.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended to buy xb900n
Reviewed in Canada on November 17, 2021
Color Name: BlackVerified Purchase
Reasons not to buy:
1. the newer version of this the xb910n has been released. I think the major upgrade is you can connect to multiple devices. The xb900n can not do that. Sony probly wonot upgrade this feature for the xb900n, this is the usual Sony. This headphone also support LDAC out of the box, but Sony cut it after firmware upgrade.
2. The ANC is not that great. Despite sony has the best anc headphone, the performance cut on the xb900n is huge. Also the usual sony, good high end product, trash low end product.
3. For 178 dollars, i think the anker q35 or q30 is far better than these.

3.0 out of 5 stars First impression : overpriced and overrated
Reviewed in Canada on January 7, 2021

Received it two days ago, first thing that came to mind when i took the headphones out of the box is that they looked cheap... Very light and plastic can be twisted in every side, huge feeling that you don't wanna drop them on the floor when you pick them. Sound is good but it's not a ''wow'', and for the price you expect an exceptionnal sound, which isn't. Sound cancelling is doubtful, i can still hear what's going around me while listenning music loud. Manual is kinda unclear you have to do researchs to understand how they works. We can't connect them to a PS4, we have to buy an adapter... And my computer doesn't recognise them too... Have to add to this the ridiculously short USB cable ( i just don't understand... ) i can't even connect it to my computer it's too short, must buy a longer. For 150-350$ headphones, this is A LOT of cons, i don't see anything positive yet and i don't understand how it can have that many positive feedbacks. I really hope my mind changes more i'll use them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable mid range headphones with drawbacks
Reviewed in Canada on December 28, 2021
Color Name: BlackVerified Purchase
This is a good quality headphones. sound quality is great and ergonomics is great. it's soft padding is very comfortable with reliable sturdy construction.

issue for me the very big issue these headphones can't be connected to two BT sources at once. even cheap 40$ skullcandy can.

Headphones stay connected to the source, no auto turn off to conserve battery, so they drain fast. I had other headphones they used to disconnect automatically to save battery and it was perfect.
I expected more utility quality of life freatures from $200 sony.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Warehouse edition - meh
Reviewed in Canada on April 10, 2021
Color Name: BlackVerified Purchase
I bought these headphones from Amazon Warehouse. I know that they would come in a used condition, but I wasn't expecting a lot of rust on the USB and headphone cables. The carry pouch was also missing.

The noice cancelling is okay; it just does the job. The bass is punchy. The build quality could be better; it is made of plastic and the premium feel isn't there. Overall, it's an alright pair of headphones clearly made for bassheads.

If you have the extra money, go for the XM3/XM4 instead. If you just want that B A S S and acceptable ANC, the XB900N are decent.

3.0 out of 5 stars $350 Headphones VS. A Little Breeze. Who will win? You guessed it, the breeze.
Reviewed in Canada on January 23, 2020
Color Name: BlackVerified Purchase
There is only one other person talking about this issue and I find it absurd. $350 headphones which are rendered absolutely useless with a little breeze.

All other aspects are great, the sound quality is ok (I don't like to comment on this usually because it's a very subjective topic, but IMO the sound quality is pretty good), noise cancellation is decent (made better with the "Sony | Headphones Connect" app, battery life is phenomenal. But all of the pros are so heavily outweighed by the cons.

A few words on the "Sony | Headphones Connect" which has some redeeming qualities in terms of the adaptive sound control which lets you control the ambient sound depending on whether you're walking, commuting, etc. But in order to use these features, you have to submit pictures of your face and ears (I'm not joking, it's ridiculous), they state that the pics are destroyed after 30 days, but seeing as how Sony has had its fair share of data breaches in the past... well you know where I'm going with this.

I know I'm being a bit harsh with my review but there are two main reasons for this:
1) This is SONY, not some newcomers in the market
2) $350

If you're in the market for having your eardrum violated then just rub some sandpaper on them, it is much cheaper.
Really disappointed in you Sony.

3.0 out of 5 stars The noise cancelling effect is not as good as expected
Reviewed in Canada on May 3, 2020
Color Name: BlackVerified Purchase
I just received it today. I have no problem with the design including the look and material. Guidance, connectivity is easy and clear. After a bit of testing and usage listening to music and ASMR, I found the noise cancellation is not as good as I expected it to be. Maybe I have to spend even some more money for a more ideal quality headphone I guess, or I was born with superman's ears lol. With this product, I am not satisfied. I can hear my roommate talking to me with a kind-of weak volume, AC noise, game laptop fan running. all of these I can hear while the noise-cancellation on even though they are surely weakened. I have watched some youtube videos saying that the NC of 900N is similar to the Sony1000N, which seem to be able to isolate all noise (Idk I never bought one), it is not true! Does it cancel some noise? yes, I think it does with max about 70% isolation. 0-70% range is adjustable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Can get really uncomfortable for extended use
Reviewed in Canada on December 17, 2019

I love the fact that it is wireless. I like the look of the headphones, I like the sound of it, I like the battery life. There are a lot of things I like about it, but it gets so uncomfortable after 2h of use that I decided to give the product a 3 star (which is sub par in my book).

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Noise cancelling
Reviewed in Canada on December 7, 2019
Color Name: GreyVerified Purchase
Nice beat (bass) on this headset. However I was disappointed with the noise cancelling I can hear people around me if I’m listening on low volumes. I got the grey one thinking it would look nicer than the black one. But it doesn’t. The cups should be deeper as my ear flap started hurting with extended listening (my ears are not small). I like the fact that they don’t leak sound around me so I won’t worry about people around me disturbed by the beat on high volumes. Overall this is a very nice headset and one of the comfortable ones compared to any other headsets I have tried for the price range ( Black Friday price about 200 CAD). Battery is really good on this headset . I haven’t charged it in 2 days since I got it (was on 70% at the time) and I have been using the headset for extended hours.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little bit overrated about being comfortable
Reviewed in Canada on March 12, 2020
Color Name: BlackVerified Purchase
I upgraded from my SONY-MDRXB950BT (very comfortable). I have to say that the XB900N are a little uncomfortable. The ear memory foams are a little too thin, which makes it easier for the speakers to to contact my ears and feels like it is scratching.
