I did enjoy this book. It was clear from the beginning that Lucie's past was going to be the key to finding Grace so no surprise when Stefan showed up in her life again. Blake was fairly bland, but for whatever reason, I wanted to keep reading to see how it would unfold. I just felt that there was really no reason for her to keep all the secrets from everyone all the time. As a fairly naive girl, getting caught up in a murder would normally send her straight to the police, not keeping it a secret for years. I didn't find that very typical but then, Grace's bio dad was a surprise to me. I thought Lucie was bluffing - she wasn't. So there were some good surprises that kept me reading and I thought it was a pretty great story.
Wow! What an ending! At times throughout this story I wondered where this was leading because there seemed to be a number of incidents that happenings seemed to be repeating themselves. But, of course, there is a reason for all the repetition - everything is tied together and revealed in the surprise outcome.
I just recently found out about K.L. Slater, and to say I'm hooked on her thrillers is an understatement! I've been searching for books like these that keep you intrigued until the very end ... then WHAM! The ending is NEVER what you would expect. I've read four books so far, and I hope that K.L. will keep writing and writing more. Can't get enough!
An absolutely fabulous combination of two stories interwoven into one. Completèly believable . Especially to those readers who left home at a young age looking to follow their dream and making it in this world. Great skill in writing this terrific plot. Totally readable. Plus the psychological edge of a great thriller.
This story kept my interest from the first chapter and the chapters explaining the past were done well, no confusion. as with some stories. Surprise and suspense throughout the story was excellent. I was sorry when the story ended as I wanted to read more.
