Dosesn't feel like Star Trek. One cd scratched.
Reviewed in Canada on November 23, 2020
Do not buy not a good series. Also cds were scratched. The last one had difficulty playing. I have heard the rumors of many problems associated with Star Trek Discovery series but I thought I would still give the series a try.
There is a list of issues I could make but the core problem seems to be that the studio that made Star Trek Discovery did whatever they wanted. It is as though they/the producer/of director didn't know the history of the Star Trek series in order to be able to duplicate the feel of Star Trek that fans love.
I had already watched the Orville series that wasn't Star Trek had the Star Trek feel.
With Star Trek Discovery there were issues with the timeline, the Klingons were not Klingon. Mushrooms were used as fuel. Technology existed that was was beyond Voyager's time. The war supposedly occurring while Pike, not Kirk was on the 5 year mission, where was Kirk?
As I tried to watch this I found myself having to rename the Klingons and place them as a different group of people or species in the Star Trek universe and not to think of it as a Star Trek series, but as some other sci-fi show that I was watching only because I was bored. I found myself constantly making excuses for the makers of this series. Trying desperately to condone the mistakes made.
The only redeeming quality was the drawings of Star Trek technology and the classic Star Trek music in the intro. That would be better placed as the intro for the Star Trek Enterprise series. The acting was fine but it seemed the writers didn't know their history and the wasn't any quality control.
Just scrap the whole Star Trek Discovery series.
In all I do not recommend this series, it is not Star Trek. If I could get my money back I would. But it is past the time for returns.
The first and second season I purchased will be going into the giveaway bin.
One of the cd's in the first season set was scratched even though it was a brand new cd that was encased in plastic when it arrived.
