Pics and info are missing a key point: install so the lobe/tab is flush with the timing housing.

If installed with a gap between the KDP and the tab, the tab can spin if the bolt loosens, allowing the KDP out, but more likely, causing this tab to interfere with the timing gear train! Might be worse than the dowel pin getting loose.. anyway: avoid the whole mess, install it the right way in. I attached pics.

Most of the work is getting to the point where you can install the KDP fix, not actually installing it. And in my case, I discovered that the fix was unnecessary since the dowel pin had at some point already worked its way loose. Fortunately it did little damage when it came out. I installed this KDP fix anyway, since I figured what the heck.

This kit did exactly what it is supposed to do, keep the dowel pin from backing out even if the bolt comes loose. I like the design because it is a worry-free fix in that even if the bolt were to come loose, the bolt and tab will not let the dowel pin back out enough to fall out, there simply isn't enough room behind the cover for any of them to fall out. Great Design!

I like that this is reversible. Upon ordering my parts, I was unsure of if I had a stepped case or not ('00 Ram). turned out, I DID have a stepped case but installed the KDP kit anyway. I also like that it's pretty thick so, in the event that the bolt loosens, it will contact the case well before falling out. Nice design.

Much smarter than other designs. With this setup. Even if the bolt were to come loose. It would still hold the dowel pin in because the retainer is so long it resta against the front timing cover.
