4.0 out of 5 starsGreat price for clamps - some ergonomic issues
Reviewed in Canada on September 7, 2020
I admit I bought these I the middle of a project - I was gluing up some small boxes and needed some extra clamps due to the material bowing a bit. I was able to improvise, but immediately purchased these to avoid the same fate again later.

These function as a clamp or spreader (convent them requires a bit of disassembly - not difficult but annoying). Just pull the 'trigger' and they ratchet down. The trigger itself is my biggest complaint - I feel like it's pointing the wrong way and it's counterinuitive (similar clamps from Irwin, the squeeze trigger faces into the clamping faces)

The here's a small button to release the clamp. Everything is plastic (not glass fibre reinforced) except for the rod that runs through them; these rods were a little roughly finished and there were some burrs/sharp edges on a few. The clamping faces are a softer plastic and can be removed - I don't know if these ban be purchased separately but it would be nice if there were since these tend to get lost or chewed up during use.

Speaking of losing things - switching the clamps around to 'spread' is a laborious process - you need to remove a thumbscrew which has a nut on the other side - neither the nut of screw are retained so easy for them to get lost, or at least roll under some furniture and lead to some cursing.

Overall, these are a good price and decent clamp, but lack a bit of polish and usability. Durability I can't say right now, but they seem fairly stout and probably good enough for hobbyist /home use.

Broke one the first time using it. Even the cheap clamps I picked up from princess auto have lasted longer.

Update: On day two, I broke another one... Not impressed.

3.0 out of 5 stars I guess, sturdiness depends on the draw of luck! :)

I liked the set overall, it has a good grip and was good holding Ikea Billy bookcases together while we were attaching them except .... one large clamp just fell apart in my hand when I was applying it - probably one of those freak manufacturing defects: weak plastic or whatever, because the second large clamp, an identical one, fared just well under the same pressure/tightness application. Hoping to get a replacement.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very strong

I didn't expect much from these, and in that regard I was not disappointed. They are pretty cheaply made and won't give you a ton of gripping power. But plastic clamps never would really ... that said I fully expect these to fail as they get more usage. The small ones are especially fragile feeling. They haven't failed yet ... but I don't use them very often. They are kind of the last clamp standing in the lot so they only get use when I run out of other ones!

5.0 out of 5 stars On par with medium duty Dewalt F clamps.

It's difficult to find anything wrong with these clamps. I read other reviews saying they slip, or break too easy and that hasn't been my experience at all. To people with broken clamps I'd urge you to get C clamps if you need to put that much clamping force on things. The only thing I have a gripe about is the iddy biddy nut that it uses for the clamp-to-spreader holder that will disappear forever if I ever drop it while changing it over outside. There is nothing wrong enough with these clamps to warrant less than a 5 star review at it's price point.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too cheap for an expensive product

Do yourself a favour and spend that extra $10 on a decent set.
The claps are cheap plastic. If you grip wood too tightly you will either damage your wood or break the clamps. Completely not worth it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy but look terrible

Clamps at first glance look awful. They look like they have been used 100 times before I received them. Metal is all scratched plastic is discoloured, logos are scratched off. I’m very disappointed thinking that I received a used item when I paid for new.

Clamps are sturdy but button to release clamp feels like it will break easily. Not the best quality. I’d recommend ordering a brand name set of clamps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy with them
Reviewed in Canada on March 26, 2022

Picked these up for my husband for a stocking stuffer, he said the quality is good and is comparable to the brand name products, the only thing he said he didn’t like is the trigger to operate them is backwards, meaning when you hold them in your hand and push the trigger instead of the clamp being in the front it’s not it’s behind your hand, he said that makes it a little awkward to operate. As for the price it was about 1/3 less than the brand name.

1.0 out of 5 stars These things break WAY too easily
Reviewed in Canada on March 22, 2022

I should have taken a photo but in my frustration I threw them out.
These looked decent enough but broke extremely easily compared to even cheaper ones that look to be made of similar materials. These need to be redesigned in a better material!! Not expecting a refund because I purchased them a while ago, but they were barely used and stored properly. They all broke when using them. I thought I was doing something wrong at first but after all of them have broken when only doing simple tasks I realize it was no fault of my own.
