4.0 out of 5 starsGreat price for clamps - some ergonomic issues

I admit I bought these I the middle of a project - I was gluing up some small boxes and needed some extra clamps due to the material bowing a bit. I was able to improvise, but immediately purchased these to avoid the same fate again later.
These function as a clamp or spreader (convent them requires a bit of disassembly - not difficult but annoying). Just pull the 'trigger' and they ratchet down. The trigger itself is my biggest complaint - I feel like it's pointing the wrong way and it's counterinuitive (similar clamps from Irwin, the squeeze trigger faces into the clamping faces)
The here's a small button to release the clamp. Everything is plastic (not glass fibre reinforced) except for the rod that runs through them; these rods were a little roughly finished and there were some burrs/sharp edges on a few. The clamping faces are a softer plastic and can be removed - I don't know if these ban be purchased separately but it would be nice if there were since these tend to get lost or chewed up during use.
Speaking of losing things - switching the clamps around to 'spread' is a laborious process - you need to remove a thumbscrew which has a nut on the other side - neither the nut of screw are retained so easy for them to get lost, or at least roll under some furniture and lead to some cursing.
Overall, these are a good price and decent clamp, but lack a bit of polish and usability. Durability I can't say right now, but they seem fairly stout and probably good enough for hobbyist /home use.
