Yet another awful Oscar winner

As far as recent War movie releases , only Dunkirk was worse. Zero Character development, Zero Action and Zero entertainment value. This makes all of those "B" war movies of the 40's and 50's look fantastic. Other than some impressive sets, there is nothing memorable or unique about this picture. The trenches and soldiers all look squeaky clean and little is told of the real horrors of trench warfare or the War to end all wars. Ludicrous script.
example; Soldier meets up with a convoy of British soldiers who are uninterested in his "vital" mission and offer him no assistance when he leaves it; A German flying ace stabs a man who just saved his life from a burning plane. The German aces of WWI were aristocrats, who lived by a code of honor, not evil Nazis. The British accents were laughable. If you want to see truly great films about WWI, watch "The Blue Max" or "All Quiet on the Western Front."
