4.0 out of 5 starsA great writing
Reviewed in Canada on January 12, 2021
I liked reading this book and there are interesting topics covered in the book. The ones I liked most were:
- Our decision to invest depend on our personal history. People born in 1950 acted differently from people born in 1970
- Luck and Risk are siblings
- You can be wrong half the time and still make a fortune
- No one is impressed with your possessions. Be nice and less flashy
- Wealth is what you don't see
- Beware talking financial cues from people playing a different game

3.0 out of 5 starsMeh... stating common sense through metaphors and examples
Reviewed in Canada on May 16, 2021
Can't say that I've learned anything new by reading this book and that to me is the purpose of reading non-fiction. I had higher hopes after reading so many great reviews, but the book points to common money "wisdoms" by expanding on them through examples, just in case reader needs convincing. Chapter 19 summarizes the whole book and, as far as I'm concerned, should be the first one to read. Then, if you find something of interest, go back and read from the beginning. It's not a bad book, it is nicely written, maybe it's good for a younger generation just getting into money management. Me... I didn't really need a confirmation of my beliefs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Lessons on Money!
Reviewed in Canada on October 4, 2020

I'm impressed at how strong of a writer Morgan is. The read is smooth, easy, and straightforward.

The takeaways from the book are pretty straightforward, but very valuable nonetheless.

I think the best phrase Morgan shared was his thoughts on how money provides independence. Money offers the ability to be with you who want, when you want, and where you want. That concept stuck with me.

I give the book a 4 out of 5. But it's more like a 4.5/5.

Writing structure and style. 5/5.
Content. 4/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finance book but all about human behavior

This is exactly I was looking for when I was starting my year 2021. Mark Manson recommended this book in one of his articles and I quickly bought this and hooked to it. I finished it in a week and when I started reading I did not feel like stop reading.

Some of the things I had been doing as far as savings are concerned and the mentality of savings but this book broaden my horizon about investing and other important lessons in general. Must read whoever is looking to read something about how human mind behave when it comes to money and our choices.

Best finance book I’ve read in a few years. It goes over very obvious, but forgotten and possibly ignored ideas and facts that relate to investing. It’s a book that will help you shape your perspective of how people invest and why they do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars personable read about a less personable matter

The book reads well, even for someone who doesn't understand anything about money, but a little about psychology. The author doesn't get technical, but pulls in personal, human and historical contents that make it so much easier to relate, learn and even appreciate the psychology of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Viewing history through economics was an enlightening ride.

This book has taught me more about life and history (and psychology), just as much as it has taught me about concepts of financial planning. It probably is one of the best “self-help” books that exists.

Where I once mostly saw history through ideological, technological, and political lenses, I have now been exposed to it from the perspective of economics. There might be a lot of inaccurate truths in the world, but you can always follow the money; money talks. And so perhaps viewing history through economics and finance provides us with a strong tool in our Sisyphean task of attempting to make sense of this world.

Highly recommend this book.

It is going to get into investigation read this book. I think it’s more important to understand your psychology and maybe this I called you others that it is to follow numerical strategies based on formulas and market predictions. Follow your own psychology first and realize that not everyone is investing in the same way as you and that completely affects the market. Glad I read this it helped me on Many levels both inside and outside of investing.

Book has missing chapters.
After chapter4 the books starts again from chapter 1. And then again after chapter 4 there's chapter 12.
Too bad I started reading it this late to notice it. Can't return. Can't read! What a waste!
