Like all of this author’s books, this was a nice read. I was rooting for these characters, even though it took me awhile to become sympathetic to Addie. The picture of mental illness, and the way it affects the people around it, was illuminating. I’m looking forward to reading the next piece of this story.

Loved the choice between the dreamy life with the loving vintner or the messy life with motherhood and mentally ill family. Loved the digging for treasures through cast-off clothing, junk, and demolished old homes. Loved the contrast between love in easy words and love in hard service.
Was ok with the flipping times and voices, but uncomfortable with the curses and witches and superstitions of the 18th c finding their way into the present day.

Did not love the witch bottle recipe.

This had me hooked,I started out angry ,sad and annoyed must couldn't read it fast enough .great story with good strong characters and it didn't go easy in the truth about mental illness ,it showed it in its raw ugly self and from someone that deals with someone who struggles with it on a daily basis I could so relate ,this author didn't tart it up which made it much more believable ,now I'm going to read the next book
