To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I was really disappointed with this book. They have tried to break down stereotypes but have actually reinforced them. I bought it for my 4 year old but I won’t read it to him. I don’t want to read something that says “my shadow loves pink toys, princesses, fairies, not boy things” I know the books moves onto acceptance, but I just felt that it could have done it without some of the reinforcement of stereotypes to make the point.
I love this story. It's a really easily accessible story about gender non-conformity, being different and acceptance - both accepting yourself, your peers, and parents accepting their child. The world needs more books like this for younger children!
